Re: ZR1 quites running after short distance
In the garage are you saying that this is a full cold start? Would take a while for it to warm up to temp before switching loop modes. I cant recall when the fuel pumps switch. That jumper harness Goldyclon is doing a group buy on would be perfect to try in this case to see if its one of the pumps. x2 : are all the dash lights and everything off or is the only symptom being the engine dies?

Re: ZR1 quites running after short distance
There are two light on, check engine light and suspension light. They changed shocks on the car so I suspect that is where the suspension light is coming. Yes, it is a cold start and only idling in the garage at the moment. Bought a pressure tester. Will test in the morning and tehn change the filter. thanks.

Re: ZR1 quites running after short distance
Both fuel pumps run until the engine warms to 176 degrees. Then the secondary pump is turned off. If the primary pump is not working the fuel pressure will go to zero. Check the fuel pump one (FP1) fuse.
Test the primary pump. Remove the rubber filler around the fuel cap. Disconnect the four wire electrical connector. With a 10 amp fused power source apply 12 volts between the black and the grey wires. In a quiet area you will hear the pump run if it is good. The green wire is for the secondary pump. The purple wire is for the fuel level sensor. Applying 12 volts to the purple wire will destroy the sensor. |

Re: ZR1 quites running after short distance
Marc, you were dead nuts on. Primary pump not working. I don't kow who installed the new pump assembly for the guy but after they did it they should have checked the fuse. It was blown. Replaced and off we go.
Now a second question, exhaust leak, thought it was exhaust system but find out it is missing about for bolts in the exhaust manifold. Idea of where I can get the spacers for the bolts. I could make them, easy enough, but if the proper ones are available, I would go for them. thanks Alexco:salute: |
Re: ZR1 quites running after short distance
It's nice to see that you fixed the fuel problem easily.
On the '90 to '92 engines the factory installed only six bolts along with the center stud. Normally that's all that's needed. Two clamping points per port. If you want to install additional bolts Jerry has them. I don't know of a source for the loading spacers. |
Re: ZR1 quites running after short distance
I have the spacers i took off my 90 when I installed the SW headers. If anyone wants them, you're welcome to them. PM me with your address and I'll gift them to ya!
