Re: C4 Zr1 to C6zr1 brakes

Since we are on the subject, I am upgrading my C5Z06 current brakes from C6Z06 over to C6ZR1 (full carbons), so I want to take my C6Z brakes and put them on my C4ZR1. I see vansteel has the front adapters, but what's the situation on the rears?

Depends on whether u want to have e-Brake function. I have the Street Shop rear hub adapter for my Z06 brakes. Its an expensive but well made piece altho
looking at their website I?m not sure they make it any longer. May need to call them for a 1 off.

Are we talking about this setup here? 3k dollars to convert to a C5 rear hub assembly? Tell me that's not the only way...lol. I'll be busting out the 3d scanner and making it myself if 3k bucks is my option

Nope. I have a picture somewhere or u might search the forum for my thread on C6Z brakes. At the time I bought, it was $700.

I do as well. It's not offered anymore I believe you are right Dom they might do a special order is what "my cousins, sisters brother said "

However you have to call them. Not sure if the Mr. Parker mod is being done anymore as well.

Key point here is anything can be made to fit with fabrication, milling, massaging and swapping. However it would take having a car like the OP in my garage before I would even consider doing anything like that. GC.

To the OP is the goal to use the C6 ZR1 rotors as well?

GC,

Trey was good enough to call me back regarding a question I had about adjusting eBrake using the Street Shop setup. I am looking to determine if I am adjusting it properly. It tightens up when I first adjust the cables underneath, but over time, the brake won?t hold as it did previously. Marc has installed a few of these but suggests he can?t seem to make it work properly either and now defaults to a Wilwood setup for the eBrake. Trey told me that they don?t use C4 suspension etc any longer on their retro-mods instead concentrating on C6 and 7 gear. I guess much more available. However, he did say that the C4-C6 conversion is still available from Street Shop. They?re building a new website and do not have that item on current website. But u can call them for it.
He did encourage me to send him photos of my setup so we might be able to determine if I am doing something wrong. He told me that when they did use the C4 gear, SS installed the LOKAR setup w the Y block for the eBrake cables.

How much is their adapter now? I have an 87 setup I never installed but it would require relining the C4 shoes to be thicker to handle the c5 rotor/drum

Jeff,

I thought about ur setup and was going to ask about it. So u never installed it then. Don?t know the price of the adapter currently. It was $750 when I purchased it a number of years ago. Maybe we can chat about it over pizza Friday.
Is the c5 rotor 13? because it would need to be for the C6Z caliper.
