Shinto,

The MF system has the X-pipe prior to the resonator. Been talking to an MF distributor and he says the "resonator" is another of MF mufflers. I am currently looking at getting either the full system or using the rexonator with the B+B mufflers. The rexonator is supposed to be the same size as the standard resonator. I'll keep you posted.

i replaced the resonator on my borla system with the x-pipe,and i got rid of the restriction inside the borla pipes, right in front of the resonator...no resonnance so far

Blackjack: You replaced the resonator with the x-pipe or placed the x-pipe before the resonator?

I already think the system drones a bit, but there again, I don't have anything else to listen to -- 3 out of the 4 the Boze amplifiers is fried. The engine is my only entertainment... I just don't want to go deaf driving it.

If I understand you correctly, the x-pipe need to go before the resonator, as that would be 16-24" from the collectors. I'm not running headers though, just the stock manifolds -- have to pass smog here in CA...

i got rid of the resonator completely...replaced it with a 2.5'' x-pipe,but i kept the cats;not loud at all inside...i had a 65 big block with the original side pipes...wanna talk about resonance??...to me,my car is very civilized, both in and out;could even be louder,i wouldnt mind...noise is kinda hard to evaluate,tho...

you need to move to inyo county we only have to smog our car when they change owners . if you want to put an x pipe with stk exhaust i would put it before the resonator . x pipe flow better when the exhaust is hot to far back and it gets too cold to create that vortex suction old style way of finding the perfect spot is ti spray some paint on the exhaust tubong in that 26=30 in area where it first burns off is the sweet spot

I talked to HottExhaust about this system. They have it advertised for $653 including shipping. They cannot confirm the fitup on a ZR-1. Looking at the sketches the concerns I would have would be hanger locations and possibly interference at the X-pipe. Does anyone have any idea if this will fit.

Bob,

How does the ZR-1 system differ from an LT-4? In fact the system we took off my car was an LT-4 system. The MF is built to replace an LT-4 system. I'll be finding out more shortly.

I was considering modifying my original system, but for the money I would prefer to keep the stock system and bolt on a new system in case I ever wanted to return it to stock.

it is my understanding that the resonatordoesnot neck down to 21/4 in like the zr1 doesalso there is a small balance tube just past the rearend

Marc H. had suggested replcing the resonator on my current B+B with the LT-4 resonator I have. The LT-4 is straight pipe and I "think" is 2.75".
I saw the MF and liked the idea of a combination Xpipe/resonator. Bassani makes one for C5 with Xpipe incorporated into the resonator rather than in front of it. I've been told that you want the Xpipe as far forward as possible which seems like what the MF system does. And the MF is 3" thru to mufflers.
