Did they ever get that price?

Re: 88 ZR1 EX5023 Thread

Who needs 1? Unless you are odd man out and need a single, not sure who would want it.

Anyone know how many sets there are?

Thanks for the intrest. Dont forget I have said they need to be refinished. Pictures look 90-100% but they are closer to 70%. some one ran these on the street for a few years. Not sure what I am going to do with them just yet. I will let you guys know if I decide to sell and or trade them - you guys are doing great things with these preproduction cars - good luck with your builds!

If you want to read some VERY fascinating stories on these early cars start digging. When I first heard these were being resurrected I must have spent hours reading about them. These cars arent restored, they are brought back from the dead.Brett, when I had my 84 I started buying early parts for a future restoration but the cars gone and most of the parts but I do have a few things left, all G.M.What I have left is an 86-89 steering wheel, all exterior lights, heater control.

Hey Jeff. I may be interested in the steering wheel at some point. I'll need a new one.

I put this wheel in my car for about a month and then took it off and put it back in the box. When I had the wheel recovered for my Z I used the box to send it out and didnt get the box back, was not very happy but I do have the receipt here somewhere.I also have a set of the front driving lights.

It will be fun to begin the interior when the times comes. The 87 donor car that I got will be a huge help, but the steering wheel is hard and cracked. I'll contact you when the time comes, for sure.

PS
I just added pics of the 54 Motorama Fastback panels in the mold making thread.

Wow, think about how rare this car is.....and then think about how many other models of cars had this type of effort put into it, and what the impact was to the auto industry?

The only other program that I can think of is the effort by Ford with the GT40, and but not for the ZR-1, does Ferrari build the F40? The ZR-1 bested the Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Countach, and the Porsche 911/928S4.

The LT-5 was hiccup in the supercar world that upped the ante and I am not sure the American performance cars we have today would be here without the LT-5 program. Keep in mind the genesis of program really started in the mid 80s.

Great to see, I will definately be down to Indiana to check this out, great stuff!

The top fit like a glove on the first try. The geometry of the tub was not compromised when they tried to crush it with the front end loader. It should move fairly fast now.

More, more, more pix and details.
I'd love to know all the details of why GM decided to destroy the prototypes and everything that happened after that.

No pics yet. The build begins on two of them in April. I'll be making a new mold with more head room.

It's wearing your Gatorbacks, Tom!

It's really beginning to take shape. If all goes well, I'll have it home by the end of the week. Then, paint prep can begin. I need to have it painted before the Gathering in May.

:o I'm very proud to have sent my tires to you. They were living out their life in my fuel tank room....at least it was warm ( #6 fuel! ) for them while they waited to be put to good use!

Its not a ZR-1 its a KING OF THE HILL. 1989s and up are ZR-1s, the 1988 is named KOH on the build sheet as the ZR-1 as a designation did not come about until 1989.
