Maybe the missing radio is on ebay

To date, I have heard nothing from Kurt. I can only assume he is out of the ZR-1 parts business. As such, there will be no more "For Sale" or "Services" items allowed to be listed from White racing Products without Administrator permission until further notice.

The registry site has numerous references and ads. I believe those should be deleted until this matter is resolved. Makes me wonder about the hundreds of parts he has listed on EBay.

What is the eBay seller name for Kurt/White Racing? I'm interested to see his rating and comments.

Thanks.

Re: About White Racing Products.

Here is an update on my radio and experience with Kurt White (KW).

Bottomline, I have my radio. No thanks to KW. Someone on the forum suggested I check on eBay for a way to contact him. I did and he responded Jul 14th. He offered no excuses, no mention that he has moved overseas, no sorry...nothing.

I was able to track down were he sent my radio from a fellow forum member & really appreciate that. I contacted the business. The owner was pleased to hear from me because he had mine and another client's radio and was not able to get in contact with Kurt. He experienced the same thing as me. He just placed my radio on the shelf not knowing who the customer was. Yes, I paid for the radio directly and received 2nd day priority. Now, I get an email from Kurt via eBay wanting me to mail him a check for more than double what I paid the shop to make the repairs. He again never offers apologies, or ways to make amends. I have not responded and will not.

A fellow forum member stand up for him, and let me know he is not a crook. Well, he may not be a crook but is a terrible business man. Put your self in my shoes where you were told 5 business days, after 9 business days I called and emailed KW numerous times. No response. You call the business in Tampa, and you get a recording that the voice mail box is full. I even called local businesses surrounding the address trying to find out if there was any activity for KW business. So, weeks go by and decided to reach out to ZR-1 Net forum members. Then you hear he packed up and moved overseas. You think the worst.

I have learned some valuable lessons and appreciate the help and support from fellow members. Some members even offered spare radios and sources to locate a replacement.

I do request that members respect the situation and is a matter between me and KW.

I saw that on eBay too. For a completely rebuilt long block (not a short block) $4900 plus a $3500 core charge if I'm not mistaken. Has anyone actually bought one of these?

Re: About White Racing Products.

To add a recent experience. Made an offer on some zr1 parts he had listed on ebay. He accepted the offer, but there was no payment method listed. I sent him two messages about sending a paypal invoice. One never came. He then filed an unpaid item claim against me. I asked two more times for a paypal invoice, which was never received. Ebay wasn't real interested, so I filed a claim against him for not receiving the item. Magically, the claim against me was dropped.

Never did receive an invoice, parts are still listed on ebay.

I'd be seriously curious as to what parts are actually left and who is managing things.

Yeah, it's pretty tempting when you see he (claims to) have a part you need, but (for me), there is zero reason to attempt to buy something from him. 99.9% chance of disappointment, delays, hassle ...

Unfortunately it's for a part I haven't seen elsewhere, the seals for the secondary throttle shafts.

It’s a shame really. He was a good source and supporter for a long time. I agree, I wonder what stock he has left.

I’ve got a friend that needed a rear inner wheel well liner. Nobody had it and White Racing Products did @$180 so my friend bid on it on eBay. Kurt White removed the item and jacked the price up to well over $250 and still tried to sell it. I did some digging and found the part for $78 shipped.

On Ebay if you search "see other items" for "whiteracingproductsllc_nos" you will find about 278,000 items (not sure how much is in stock) :p

True... but if you look closely the vast majority of those 278,000 are not ZR-1 items. He sells parts for other largely GM cars as well. Given the issues people have experienced it would appear his ZR-1 stock is questionable.

It's a little surprising that his ebay rating is 98.6%. There are only 13 negative feedbacks in the past year (I would have thought there'd be more), but they all sound like our experiences here.

Here is a trick :)
Locate items from other commercial vendors (Lots and Lots of items).
List those items on Ebay at double the cost.
List Lots and Lots of items (some ZR1 related).....say nearly 278,000 items.
When the item is bought....have the commercial vendor ship the item to the Ebay Buyer.
If you sell a very small portion of what you are listing at double the price
with NO storage, packaging, or handling costs....you make a ton of money

Now.....since you are selling other Commercial Vendors items at double the price, you have no way of knowing his inventory or shipping habits and from time to time will not be able to produce the Commercial Vendors item you sold on Ebay......so what.....you just go with the flow as the money keeps rolling in from the 278,000 items you are listing :D

Lets say you sell on Ebay 1% of the items each week (not each day folks) that would be 2,780 items each week at double the cost (you making bucks on shipping as well as the item) say you make $10 an item. That would be $27,800 each week times 52 would be a 1-1/2 million a year :sign10:

Then you move out of the country so you do not have to pay taxes :D
You can do this trick from anywhere in the world as you do not have inventory, or place of business

Except we know, that with a certain amount of the obsolete parts he does sell, like the zr1 parts, what’s left is stocked in a warehouse in FL.

Re: About White Racing Products.

Yeah and the parts in that FL warehouse are not in a climate controlled environment. The first set of main bearings I purchased were full of rust. He made good and replaced them and requested the old ones back. Not sure why.

I'm sorry.
I do not understand.
Would someone kindly explain why anyone within this organization, knowing what has simply been said within this thread, would anyone buy from a company like this?

There was a time when Kurt had a good name and was a reliable supplier. But those days are long gone.

At this point, probably no good reason, unless you were local and could see what you were getting before paying for it.

In the past, it seemed like he may have some inventory not readily available anywhere else. That was why I ordered from him. But now I think everyone knows there is a good chance the transaction will not be satisfying.

He has parts listed that simply aren't available anywhere else. That's it.

Yeah, unfortunately, most of the parts he has listed aren't available from him either. I noticed this 4 years ago when I was searching for stuff for my Z. This guy should not be taken seriously.

Re: About White Racing Products.

I've done 'follow-up' sales to a few people that KW screwed.

2 instances he took the money and then after a 2 week wait he drop shipped the 'wrong' part from an eBay purchase he made after he took the guys money. He made no effort to do anything until his customer started to scream 'WHERE'S MY PART' The guy KW bought it from included the invoice in the package that he drop shipped. Best I recall KW sold the part for $100+ dollars more than he had paid for the part. It took that guy close to 90 days to get his money refunded.

He doubted I had the correct part because I wasn't charging enough.

The second sale was another wrong part he sold and drop shipped with very similar circumstances.

It's got to be terrible I'd think to go through life knowing that your so hated.

I feel the same way Marty, how many of us have been scammed by this guy? A few years ago he scammed me on an NOS part and when I called him out on it I got criticized for it. Years ago this guy had a group buy on some new ZR-1 windshields and a guy I know in my area went in on it and bought one. Never got his windshield or a refund. I don’t know how most feel about screwing people over like this but I’d hate going go through life knowing I’d pi$$ed so many people by stealing from them.
