Re: X-Pipe

Why is everything so darn difficult?

I called Stainless Works early this AM my time and see they have a sale for $315 for the X pipe. When I asked him about the baffles inside he said he will check with Tech and why they have that as well my query to sell me one without and how much? I really don't see the purpose other than they are trying to quiet it down, but if there is a loss of power as I imagine then I'm not interested. I imagine there is also a loss of sound too then I might as well just keep the resonators. In addition, I am waiting to see if they will ship to me with other than FEDEX/UPS too.

On another note, here is the email traffic from Billy Boat Exhaust. So, at least I know they will sell me one for $340, but will not ship to me other than with UPS or FEDEX to Japan (probably about $100) my guess to ship it:

Hello Bob,

Okay, thanks. Is there any way to ship USPS to my FPO address here in
Japan? It is a US zip code from San Francisco, CA and rates are same like
shipping to CA. How much would it be via priority mail?

Thank you very much.

Question from the website:

Hello,

I bought an exhaust system from you several years ago for my 1990 Corvette
ZR-1 with LT5 and would like to replace the resonator with an X pipe. Can I
purchase it separately as a direct replacement?

Thank you,

Craig

Hi Craig - We currently do not put the resonators in the X-pipe, this is mainly due to numerous requests to eliminate them.

Check it out online: http://www.stainlessworks.net/produc...rossovers.html

Costumer service my friend in the U.S. is not the same anymore.

Craig if you ever get the X-pipe you should find a place in Japan to copy the X-pipe,probably cost alot less.

Maybe a little competition might rattle there cage.

Re: X-Pipe

my SW X-Pipe is straight through...no baffles...just two 3" pipes merging together to make an X. They barely touch.

Re: X-Pipe

I hear you on that and it sure does make it confusing. If I receive an X pipe with a baffle in it I'll go crazy.

Pete,

That would be great to have it made here, but from my experience everything is so expensive. Dyno tune starts are $1200 US!!!! I might check a shop here like this one that I was in communication with about cats, but it was crazy expensive: http://www.suruga-speed.co.jp/

They are an exhaust factory and they just don't have muffler shops around like we do in the US with one off stuff being very expensive.

I am just waiting for the shipping quote from Stainless Works and if total is around $350 then not too bad.

Thanks for all the input and sorry to highjack this post to the OP.

Craig

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the info and I would consider that, but I really like to do things on my own and would do this at the auto crafts shop on a lift. That sounds great, but just need to see what you are talking about that makes this easy to install without needing a muffler shop. Do you have a link or part number?

that 1/2" means alot it would place the pipes closer to the floor board.Summit has the wrong center to center,or who ever they get it from has the wrong specs.
