I have seen this car and it looks like the d&m restored corvette. It had the exact same paint scheme. What the picture hides is that not only was the black l88 cowl black but the rear back lights was also black. Jack Cheskaty I believe also owned a zr2 corvette which was a ls6 1971 bigblock convertible with the zr2 option. That name is very familiar. I read the whole article and it sure seems like there is documentation. I did recently see a orange 1969 corvette that showed documentation in one of the big corvette magazines and it was the Missing zl1 corvette found article. Is there 3 of them?? I know for sure the yellow one is original. The white one sounds like its true especially since Mr. Cheskaty backs it up. The orange one??? All three are restored. Thanks for finding that article.

I spoke with the owner of d&m or is it d&a corvette and he rebuilt the engine in that white one but at the time would not confirm its originality. This was in the 1980's so who knows. Maybe its the same car but this time with documentation.

I read an article in a hot rod [?] mag 35 years ago about an L88 / C48 [?] vette, with M22 'Rock Crusher' tranny, that was believed to be 550 HP, 17x? MPH capable.

I know in retrospect that the article was about ZL1. Didn't mention rarity, that I remember. Not even a picture, but an artist Black & White sketch.

Hmmm...
Nothin' like boostin' your own thread ;)

I'm stunned. Talk about going off topic. Please start a ZL1 thread...

sorry. On topic, only zr1's that can command 100k+ are the speedsters, LM bodied or twin turbo LT5. I saw a callaway twin turbo LT5 speedster no sale at 150k at mecum. 100k for a stock z is not possible....yet.

I don't know the seller, but they probably aren't the only ultra low mile ZR-1's in Vegas. I know of one of the long time Chevy dealer's here that put away a new vette every year. I don't know if he still does this, but his father did and he continued after his father passed.

I have a hunch that there are probably a good number of low mile Z's around. $100K? gotta put it out there and see if there are any fish in the ocean!! I hope he finds one.

Help me out a little..... what's "LM" bodied?

I think the only way to escalate the price of literally anything is to start asking for more. Consequently, I'm glad to see this happen.

EXAMPLE: I recently did a full remodel on my son's house to be able to sell it. The realtor started in with the comp evaluation for a recommended listing price. I said "Everything in construction is going up, labor, materials even new houses. How are we going to justify the remodel cost if we keep comparing to old sales price? By doing that, values will never rise" We listed for 15% more and got nearly 13% more than the comps.

You will never get it unless you ask for it. That applies to a lot more than cars & houses ;)

And then there were two! This guy just posted a second one Black with only 36 miles. Also asking $100K. He can ask what he wants, but in think he's crazy if he expects to get anywhere near that price.

Jerry, I agree, if we all went with comps, price would never increase. Had the same conversation with my realtor recently. Conversely, expectations on actual selling price need to realistic.

LM bodies is those Lemans bodied cars Reeves Callaway made. They are very swoopy and look european. He didnt make many of them. Lemans body style.

Some people paid 100k new for these cars. The most important fact is both cars have <40 miles. There are people that can write these types of checks and never even think twice.

The more cars that are modified in years to come, only causes the price of cars like these two listed continue to become more valuable.
