Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question

Morning,
Take a small piece masking tape, double over itself and place on the
radiator shroud ,then place your cut REFLECTIX into position, then install
your air box. If you cut the REFLECTIX a little smaller then the bottom of air
box no one will see it when you are done. I cannot remember if I had to cut
out for the holes to mount the air box to the radiator shroud. It's not a big
deal to do this.

I've never seen this done though.

Am I crazy to think this... or just bored? lol

If you cut the bottom of the shroud this way you won't be able to seal the air filter properly and the intake will take in unfiltered air

Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question

John,

Appreciate the clarification that Reflectix is not adhered to the back of the air filter house and is just held in place by pressure.

Thanks,

Gary

John,

Sorry, am a bit confused on what you're recommending covering with Reflectix.

Photo of backside of air filter housing showing area over radiator.

Appreciate your clarification on how much of the backside you actually covered with Reflectix.

Such as from the outlet mouth to the vent holes or ?

Thanks,

Gary

I FOUND APICTURE OF THE RADIATOR SHROUD WITH THE RELFECTIX IN
POSITION.

Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question

John,

Thanks for the photo.

Please correct my observations, if I'm not interpreting photo correctly.
- Narrow end is the output of the air filter that connects to engine air input
- Fat end does not hang over the radiator coils

Thanks,

Gary

Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question

OK,
Just cut the RELFECTIX TO FIT ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE AIR BOX
THAT GOES TOWARDS THE RADIATOR SHROUD. YOU CAN CUT IT A LITTLE
SMALLER THEN THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR BOX SO NO ONE CAN SEE IT
STICKING OUT.
HOPE THIS HELPS
JOHN

John,

Thanks for your input. Attached photo of Reflectix added to backside of air filter housing. Reflectix tacked with spots of RTV.

Thought about covering the other area shown, but was afraid the Reflectix might tear and block air conditioner condenser.

Appreciate everyone's input.

Gary
