Re: Carlisle Day #1

Well people, that is just about it.....
Just wanted to let it be known, that although Carlisle is a great place to be for us Corvette lovers, it is not quite the same from the 80's. Yes a great turnout, but nowhere near the amount of people and Vettes that have been there in years past. Bare vacant spots you see on the hills and flat grounds with no Vettes, were always filled to capacity. Corvette parking for non entries is not what it used to be, also in the pics you can see the roadways in the vendors area, they would be packed shoulder to shoulder on both Saturdays and Sunday. You could hardly move from one location to another, I kid you not!!!
Sunday was always the day to be there, as they had the Corvette give-away and the bikini contest. and vendors stayed until the end, and you could get some great deals, back in the day!!!
Don't get me wrong, I am not downplaying Carlisle at all, I missed some years due to my work schedule, but we went every year since the first Corvette @ Carlisle in 1981, with the family.
My thought is that the people who were in their thirties back then (like me) are alot older now, (like me....lol) and the newer generation may not be as enthusiastic as we once were. Don't take me wrong I know alot of younger people are into Vettes, but alot of the older ones may not come to the show as they did years before. And us baby boomers have alot more population than the younger generations of today.
You also have the Internet, which makes buying parts, like we never even thought could be possible way back when!!!
Just my thoughts on the subject, but that doesn't stop me from going, Corvettes @ Carlisle is still one of the top Corvette shows to attend anywhere!!!
And on that note, hope you enjoyed the pics.....see you next time.......:dancing=D>

Re: Carlisle Days #1,2, & 3

Ok we have a complication.....just showed my wife all the pics, and she's quite upset with the members pic section. Because, most members were touching their car when getting their pic taken. She said, "look at that, they are putting fingerprints on the car" I guess she has learned from me over the years......lol....lol

Your welcome Cliff, I enjoyed taking the pics, just looked and shot. Used my Samsung cell, which takes very good pics. Just tried to take pics through the eyes of everyone as you would have covered the fairgrounds. Of course the only posed pics were the members pics and they were a fast pose.......

I did not even consider taking any pics of the work that was done at our tent, as you and others already have that covered and you especially....:)
I am just happy that everyone here on the forum can get an idea of what Carlisle is like and just enjoy checking out the pics.......:dancing

Thank You for the pics, Im disappointed that I couldnt make it this year. I scheduled to take off of work Friday but it didnt work out. I was really looking forward to seeing my ZR-1 Bruthas. I did manage to catch Darrins ear for a few minutes on the phone the other day. Sad to say my car hasnt left the driveway all year. Hope to see some Z's in Sept.
PS, glad to see a great effort by all to make the event better every year :flag:
