GM Still uses the PEP car status. 2009 ZR1's with PEP status 95800007 95800021 95800076 95800077 95800117 95800128 Not sure what PEP stands for. |
Re: 1989 ZR-1 for sale at BJ
Believe PEP is the acronym for GMs "Product Evaluation Program" where the vehicle is driven as a company car by a GM executive.

Re: 1989 ZR-1 for sale at BJ
Scott, thanks for the PEP info. Turns out GM searched for the dealer invoice in the last few weeks that's why they recognized the vin.

Thought this was interesting. My 1989 L98 Corvette has standard cloth seats (1 of only 400 built that year) Here is a side bolster comparison between the two:

Re: 1989 ZR-1 for sale at BJ
PEP cars are giving to GM level 8 Managers and above, generally for 1 year or less, sometimes as little as 3 months, the individidual keeps a log of issues and evaluations during that time period. Then GM employees are allowed to buy the PEP cars at greatly reduced pricing.

Good stuff thanks. I imagine there was probably an embargo on buying an 89 ZR-1 though. So lets speculate who was a level 8 manager in 1989? Dave Mclellan? John Heinricy? |
Re: 1989 ZR-1 for sale at BJ
After Level 8 they go unclassified which is what those guys would have been, at that level you pretty much take what car you want!
