Re: Big Brakes Needed

Actually the Z51 is a 13.5" rotor. Gives a bit more wheel clearance than the Z06 caliper although you still may need 18" wheels.

Re: Big Brakes Needed HYDROBOOST

The entire premise of the ZR-1 was to be able to bring in a dual pattern camshaft for vacuum and emissions reasons. As you know, it is very complicated to bring in the secondary ports. The L88's had little vacuum, and Chevrolet did NOT want the public driving that car because the brake booster would not work in traffic, and the car could not stop or go into a turn at 160mph without a booster.
The LT-5 was a modern solution to this dilemma.
I specialize in HYDROBOOST power brake conversions, which run off of the p/s pump, and need NO vacuum. The stopping power is incredible, as 2000psi is available to the calipers, even at idle pump speed. I have done these before on Big Block C-4 conversions, but will be prototyping a Hydroboost on my own car soon. I will have the hoses and brackets dialed in for those who want the very finest in brakes. I will use the more common 1" master cyl, eliminating the weak and expensive 13/16' or 7/8' original master cylinders. This will give a much firmer pedal feel.
With High pressure, the car stops in nearly half the distance. This has the effect of not heating the rotors, and eliminating the need for giant rotors.
