Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
While I was at the SGC Gathering last Saturday, Aaron & I were visiting about an LT5 engine in his shop. Aaron said the story is that the engine was acquired from Geoff Jeal by an Air Force Pilot who was stationed in England and became friends with Geoff. Aaron believes the engine came from a pearl white ZR-1 (the only white one) that was part of the ZR-1 European press release group.
If the car is still in existence, Aaron would like to see the engine reunited with the car. The VIN or MM # was not accessible at the time, but Aaron could get it for an interested party. Any information appreciated. Please contact Aaron Scott at South Georgia Corvette in Thomasville, GA |

I believe the car has been restored. George

Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
that isn't the Pearl white car that Joe Roebuck owned is it?

Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
Although I am quite sure the car has been repainted and was not originally pearl white, Marc Haibeck just finished up a pearl white 368 at his shop. It resides somewhere in Illinois. The car had to be rebuilt as it had Jeal cams.....and you know the rest of that story.....
If that is the one, Marc will know where it is. |

Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
There were:
6 1989 31U Arctic Pearl Pilot ZR-1s: #06 #11 #14 (Car pictured above) #15 #16 was a press used car #17 There was at least 1 31U Arctic Pearl 1989 Active prototype: #25 There were at least 4 1989 non pilot 10U Arctic White (not pearl) 1989 ZR-1s #40 (now ZR-12) #46 #72 #76 The LT5 for #14 was known to exist and was seperated from #14 so that sounds like the most likely source. I do not know who currently owns it. I do not believe any of the France European press cars were white. So this must have been used prior to the France PR fleet. |
Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
If the P number for the car can be found, I may be able to match the engine with the car number IF my data goes forward that far.

Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
Brett, The "P" number for #014 was/is P9Y032

Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
That's why I was so excited that Geoff gave me the book. I figured if I was going to buy the 88, and it wasn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination, I wanted as much documentation as I could get. And I got a heap of it!
Having one of only two atcual true prototype ZR1's means alot to me. And to bring it back from the dead is the whole adventure of it all. The "book" was just icing on the cake. :notworthy |

#014 would have been produced in 03/1988. Eric |

Since I used the term first I guess I might explain. The car is for sale and the owner did not want its location and info 'out there'. I wanted to note that it was known to still exist but it was up to the owner to post pictues and the story of the car. Car is still for sale but the price tag is quite high for it and the sale fell through so its fate remains confidential, ie in limbo. Tyler |
Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
If the owner of the ZR-1 is not interested is the LT5 for sale? It might be nice to have some spare parts for the Phase III in #004.

Re: Engine Desires Renewed Relationship w/Car
Whats the asking price for the car?

Let's just say it was "market" price. If you average all of the 89's sold in the last 3 years you would be very close. |
