zo6 run in

I ran into a z06 at light we ran three times and all three times the zo6 pulled my little zr by a fair margin. Now, I want to be able to handle these ls1 monsters with the zr. Zr is a 91 totally stock,except for haibeck chip. I am considering gears (4.10) B & B and upper end port job. Any comments on the power I should be making and quarter mile times? Any other suggestions, i.e. chould I keep stock gear? :-x

I'd go with the top end porting, headers, and a good cat back exhaust. You should be close to 400rwhp with these mods (typical stocker dynos around 330rwhp). That should do the job provide the Z06 isn't heavily modified. The gears would probably help as well but there has been some debate on this lately.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

A chip alone will not do it in the 1/4 against a Z06. Both of them being stock, they will win in the short run, you will win in the long run.

However, as was suggested, you can add headers(biggest bang for your buck), replace the cats with an straight exhaust and X-pipe if your state doesn't require them, and a exhaust system back preferably 3' in diameter. Doing a P&P for the TB and IH isn't a bad idea either. You can also increase your chances with gears, and you can do little things like removing your spare tire when you know you will be racing.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Jeals are nice based on many peoples experience, but they are expensive. I think you will wind up paying $1,200 for them compared to $900 for SW's which are very easy to come by and considered very good as well (if your interested, I know a person who can sell them to you at that price).

That would be great if you have someone. I would appreciate that. Do you happen to know anyone who sells the B & B set up?

The gentleman's name is Brian Alspaugh. You can reach him via email at;

"brian douglas alspaugh" <balspaug@indiana.edu>

He is a very helpful person, and may also be able to give you a direction on the B&B. You can also ask him about getting your headers ceramic coated(if your interested in that) because he has shipped them to Swain Tech upon request before.

Good luck.

I bought my B & B Triflow system from MADVET, now known as Mid America Motorworks. Awesome deal, low shipping and great customer service.

whip the z06

get a nos and hit the button then ull whip the z06 ls6 but maybe not the new c6 z06 unless u go big squirt!!! the lt5 does real well with da squirt to bring on da pain!!!! do i have nos? no.. do i care a z06 can beat me? ... no i luv it just the way it is... and the last z06 i saw in my rear view mirror stayed there he could not get around me.. all i have read they are only one tenth faster than a zr-1 in the 1/4 mi. it depends more on the driver and hookin up the tires than anything else...if fact at 400 hp it all becomes traction and reaction times as the largest factors...hell even drag slicks net u only 2 tenths!! :evil: :evil: :evil:
