Three frame-off restorations going on as well.

Re: Who's Modding this winter?

Haibeck 500 package plus engine refinising to look more or less stock. Why? As an old race car driver once said, "Too much horsepower is almost enough..." Plus a few little items as well. But don't tell my wife.....Bob

Re: Who's Modding this winter?

In the works now on a Z is a total top end rebuild with the removal of the secondaries and charcoal system, LOTS of clean up, TB coolant bypass, new computer tune (thanks Pete), change all the gaskets (Thanks Jerry), new stainless injectors, and powdercoat the top end. Then Coilovers, sway bars, poly bushings, and R & D frame brace for the front.

As far as my own projects the L98 car has so far gotten a new to me 3 inch SS B&B exhaust and will hopefully be installing a Harlan mini shift light and ZR51 short shifter soon. I need to change a few other little things but that should be it on that one. On the Z I hope to get the coilovers back on the car and add a Harlan mini light and ZR51 shifter as well for that car. I need to finish mocking up the new 3 inch exhaust and get everything ordered. I think that is it but who knows LOL Oh yea and SELL THE 96 GRAND SPORT!!!

Brett,
I'm looking forward to seeing EX5023 come together that is such a cool project.

Thanks for the write up Daniel. The project he is referring to is my 91. The powder coating looks real good, it is a little brighter than stock, I will post pics soon.

We started project about 6 weeks ago and I ready to get her back on the road :dancing

Your welcome Daniel/CJ
My Z is done for now so no changes/mods this winter for my Z.
I found a new research/test mule engine my buddy Bob"s 427 :)
Will be doing some skunkworks on his 427.

We need to install bigger axles/spindles.
Motor will be coming out, make and try a few different things in hopes for more power.
Will post results or we'll see it at BG.

Pete

Re: Who's Modding this winter?

It took all summer but I finally have ready:
- 1000lb front spring
- 500lb rear spring
- 32mm hollow front bar
- revalved Penskes

While apart for above I'll be going out for Delrin LCA bushings.

On the fence whether I should bite the bullet and get the Guldstrand upper arms and do those at the same time.

Meanwhile hope to pull some weight out and maybe try the bias spring or just go to the Camaro master cylinder I picked up a while back.

And then there's re-doing the exhaust, pulling the plenum/secondaries/PCV setup etc.

Here's to next season (this year was a bust).

Actually, they are. As soon as this 74 is done at the end of the month I will be doing nothing but fiberglass work and bodywork. It'll be a messy six to eight week period.

While getting a 54 ready to paint, I'll do the fiberglass work for a few projects. The rockers are one of the projects. The new part of the shop will hate me and put up a tough fight for being a dusty, dirty mess. I just got it cleaned up and de-dusted.

Are you still replacing the Eradi-speed rotors his Winter? My car is begging for new, fancy rotors.

Let me know when the time comes. I have absolutely no fiberglass skills but I can sure help with grunt work and clean up.

Sure hope to. Still need to get the hats over to Carerra for PC but the decelerators coming off for the eradispeeds are yours when I get it done if you want them.
But they aren't so fancy!

I simply cannot bring myself to mod my perfect Z, so started negotiating for a '99 FRC with 30K miles. If I can get the price, it will become the hot rod....thinking big-time engine mods plus a big rear gear...I just love the FRC's....

Cut me some slack. I started learning Spanish three months ago.

For Bob. G. Not a damn thing. With flying back and forth to Mexico every week it does not leave much time for anything else.

Daniel and CJ rock with the upgrades for a total Frank approved update to CJ's machine.

I will be installing a custom crank case evac system along with custom oil separators...... and finally installing my water meth injection before a Dyno at Aaron Scotts. Plus a Mark H. re-flash of my chip.

Sure will, I will be making Frank approved decals for the upcoming Gathering next year. If Frank likes your car... you know it was done right.

Prolly not too much.
Perhaps open the TB to 63mm, and
fuss with an idea I have for smoothing the air flow through the air horn.
Some cosmetic things on the interior that need to be done; saggin headliner, re-cover the speakers at the kick panels, stuff like that.

I thought about installing an electric water pump. But, after seeing what happended to Pete after his failed...I'm not so sure anymore. (We briefly grazed the topic of some pump failure sensors, but (I) haven't discussed it beyond that.)

Then just yesterday, while "blowing out some cobwebs", the GM spring clamp on my right side coolant pipe allowed the hose to slip off of the pipe. When I noticed the fog behind me, the temp was already climbing, and got oh so close to that hashed line area at the top end of the temp scale before I could pull off the highway. Now I'm praying I didn't hurt it! So, this being the second time I've had coolant issues at WOT, the thought again returns to the electric pump. However, I wouldn't install it w/o some redundant monitoring scheme (prolly a combination of electrical and temperature sensing). We'll see.

Maybe you should get better hose clamps. Sounds like your spring clamp has sprung somewhat.

Paul upgrade to Samcos and get those Samco stainless clamps. Get rid of those Dorman style ring clamps. Did the check Guages light come on? GC

Coilovers will be installed over the winter. I cannot say I am looking forward to this project but I am looking forward to the results after installation. I did this on my race car a LONG time ago and I still have not forgot what a pain in the *** this is but it will be worth it. I just love the looks of a ZR-1 dropped to an agressive ride height. Good luck to all with their projects. I hope we have lots of pics and stories this soring.

I can tell you that if you are a needle width from the red zone on the temp gauge, that's about 235 degrees F on as reported by the tech1.
