Another road trip to AZ in my 91
I don't know why I entertain the notion that I'm going to keep my 91 a low mileage example when I find myself driving it around so much.
This time it is because my other two cars are not up to the task. The C6 does not have runflats and my nearly new Mustang has the transmission in 4000 pieces at the Ford dealer (for the 4th time). Not to mention I already got the rock chips and general rash already, so why not? In other news: I passed my smog check by a wide margin- the new O2 sensors really helped out, but I'm starting to have bad thoughts about doing headers until the next check rolls around.:eusa_shhh:mrgreen: |

Re: Another road trip to AZ in my 91
Going through the desert always takes a little bit from the car:
drove in rain/ snow, took a rock to the windshield, and put a small scratch on the back loading xmas stuff (buffable). What's another 1000 mi, really? AZ I-8 mile marker 96 or so eastbound. I used to test for V-Max here until I found out AZ has the option to charge for felony reckless endangerment for excessive speeding. The statute of limitations is in effect for now... http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...s/DSC02658.jpg On the way back, got wet - Coatal Mtn range San Diego Co. 35 degrees and sort of snowing: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...s/DSC02669.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...s/DSC02670.jpg |

Re: Another road trip to AZ in my 91
I had fun with a WRX on my last trip between Pheonix and Tucson some years back. Made the trip in 1hr ;)
Poor little thing just had his rubber band wound up as tight as it'd go but just kept disappearing in the rear view mirror. Then I decided to let him go and I tucked in behind a semi. Went round a bend with an over pass and the poor WRX was there pulled over with some red lights behind him. It was a great trip. My sister asked how I knew there'd be trouble up ahead. I just said, "the law of averages". It was 104deg at midnight. It was September. My car has a stock radiator etc and hovered around 226 deg. |

Pete, The pavement gets real soft and squishes between your toes!!! I love snow, but I have not seen -20 degrees in a long time. ;) |
Re: Another road trip to AZ in my 91
Just a thought for those heading out on trips: check the air pressure in your spare. When I had my newly acquired 95 with 20k miles in for service at Marc's, he found the pressure to be 20 psi. It should be either 50 or 60 psi--have to look up the exact number. --Bob
