Gathering BBQ Update

Well Gang,
Just an update on the BBQ here on Thursday night. We will be serving promptly at 5:30pm. We have 50 or so RSVP’d for the meal. We will have a registration table setup for those who have registered and they will receive some complimentary gifts as well as their meal tickets. Monday is the deadline for those who want to be registered. Those who come unregistered will wait until registered guests have gone through the line and IF there is food left-over. We’re doing some expensive meat so there’s not much room for guessing and waste.
I understand there has been considerable discussion with regards to our BBQ and other issues since the new board has been elected. That is regrettable. We began the BBQ as a welcoming party to all participants and it has been well received since we began. But imagine throwing a party and not knowing how many to expect? Well, it isn’t that big a deal IF we just cooked hot dogs and hamburgers, but we don’t. We cook specialty dishes and lots of them, and most will agree our volunteers and cooks do pretty well. We ask for registrations so we know about how many to expect. Last year we were erroneously told a very low number to expect. This year that won’t happen. If you are on our list, you will have a great time and plenty to eat.
Here’s the list we have so far. Please contact us ASAP with any corrections:

Recently my car has been called a cream puff, and a marsh mellow. Bright Aqua is probably the most beautiful color ever produced for the ZR-1. In 1995 only 13 were made! It's a good thing I have broad shoulders.

The only other one I have seen was Steve Wait's Black Widow car. I always wanted one with white interior. I know, I know.....it's a girl's car but I just may paint the Weekndr someday...and if I do...who knows?

There is a 1995 ZR-1 Aqua with grey interior here in Lincoln, Nebraska. Send me a PM if you are interested in learning more about it. I will also be in Bowling Green later this week if you would like to talk in person.

Jim - Tom Christmann has asked me to say "hi" to you.

I believe "cream puff/marsh mellow" is referring to the beautiful shape it is in as in being so pristine, Joe. And, a heaping helping of jealousy!! But, if I'm wrong, you could use those broad shoulders and pancake the first 5-6 discs of their vertebrae with a wrap on top of dem pointy leetle heads! LOL!

Have fun at BG! Hope to see you at the 1/2 mile shootout in June!?

Thanks Paul! Just having some fun, because that's what it's all about. Just pulled it out, gassed it up, checked the oil, tire pressure, etc. Oh, and put the tags on it. I will be rolling early tomorrow morning. I will see everyone in BG in less than 24 hours!

I'm holding up the home front w Al, Paul, and Jeff. Needed to stay close to my better half this year. She's pretty important and want to make sure she's around to let me go to BG next year. In the meantime, I am sorting out Roza Nero's new cams in prep for 1/2mile June 2. Dyno is up next.

I guess I'll support the FBI contingency with Pete.

If I hadn't have made reservations, I'd probably just stay home myself. Gotta lot of work to do.

Gotta finish these 49th Street rockers that no one will want to buy. LOL

Thanks for good food with good friends, JVD. Your hospitality is always appreciated.

"Gunny"

ps ... will send you some photos as soon as I get home ... IF I ever get home. I'm currently enjoying MickeyD's hospitality & wifi while waiting out a really bad thunderstorm south of Chattanooga. Lots of wrecks, some bad, with a lot of vehicles off the interstate ... seems like they don't know how to slow down when it's raining hard. Can you spell hydroplane?

Hey guys. You know why Mr Thomas wins all them xcrosses? HE CHEATS!! I mean it. First of all I see how he actually goes slower to go faster (you have to be there to see it) and then he does this finale thing that you just have to see. Then I watched really careful and I didn't see a taillight ever. I heard a long time ago about these guys who raced them ZR-1's and called themselves "Pirates". They had a really hot shoe for a driver and even though the SCCA made brake lights mandatory, they rigged a switch to turn them off during the race at certain times so nobody could see how he did his braking....and when. 'Caused a BIG wreck when a certain black Porch went in waaaay too hot at Sears Point and flipped his car into the barricades. He went on to blamin' them Pirates that they had no brake lights and it caused him to almost run into the back of them which was why he crashed! So them Pirates just flipped a switch and they worked perfect!:dancing

Now as far as that BBQ goes, I want to be serious for a rare occasion.

This was the best BBQ we ever had.....BECAUSE OF YOU FOLKS. I think it was the perfect size group, you guys were right on the money with your RSVP's at 65. How 'bout 'ol Marty's ribeyes??? Is he a piece of work or what? You all even floated ONE keg. What am I to do with the other one?

JUst be careful with those emblems 'cause once you stickum, they ain't comin' off! If you need another, just let me know. We had a few spares leftover.

Thanks again gang.
oh, P.s. Yes Joe Thomas won the autocross......WITH A 240 LB PASSENGER IN THE CAR!!!

No, you were in there for the fastest run, uh....27.31 was it? But his 27.49 with that big guy with the hat:-D still beat the next fastest car so technically, he coulda woulda shoulda won if you hadn't conned poor Joe into another ride or two. :blahblah:

Hey question there FV. How much WOULD you pay for one-a-them rides with Joe anyways? Might be some profit in there somewheres.... :censored::)

Re: Gathering BBQ Update

Hey Jim--

The BBQ was great and Marty's ribeyes were excellent! And thanks for the help on my tires. Definitly improved the vibration, although I later had a Road Force balance and they had to rotate three of the four tires on the rims, and one tire was simply "Out of spec". And there may even be something other than the tires causing some vibration, as I still had a little on the way home. A great time and I plan to be there next year, as long as you invite Marty to do the cooking!--Bob
