90 ZR1 #102
My friend just puchased #102 and the window sticker states that the car was delivered to CPC Group Engineering Center 30003 Van Dyke RM. A106 Warren MI 48090. Does anyone have any information on this delivery location?

Re: 90 ZR1 #102
That would be the address for the GM Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. What color combination is the car, it could have a unique history.
I have a '95 ZR-1 that was delivered to the Proving Grounds in Mesa, Arizona. I'm still trying to learn what it may have been involved in, but sometimes that's the fun of owning these cars. |

http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/ That will show some additional information. Scan all the docs and repost this in the Prototype section of the forum. We history geeks love figuring out theses issues. Joe same goes for your 1995. These two where part of development history of the Z at some level. Move the question to the Proto section. Eric |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
Thank you guys for responding to the question I posted this morning. My friend emailed me more information this afternoon on the car.
Window Sticker Information: Box #110 (Shipped to) c-p-c hdqtrs c/o qual-effic I, 13 mile & mound Warren MI. Box #113 (dealer) 502 Box #117 (dealer) 47 It looks like the cpc group ordered it. The car is dark red metallic with saddle interior. The car has around 94K on the odometer at present time and has had 4 previous owners. I will see if he can scan all the information he has on the car and I will re-post on the prototype section. Thank you guys again for your responses. |

Thanks for that information! I have spoken to Ingles, Minneker and Heinricy about my car, because they are all here in Michigan, but I will try this and see if I can find out anythig additional. Thanks |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
Interesting, my car window sticker shows shipped to the chev. Central office in warren Michigan, but sold new in manhattan beach, California. Members have told me my car was probably a pep car (Product evaluation program). I do have the presentation box but the build sheet is missing so I can't look at the boxes, however, I will try to get the one off the tank if it is still there and check boxes 110, 113, 117. I have all the new car sales stuff confirming new car purchase at champion Chevrolet in manhattan beach. Yet delivery to the tech center in warren Michigan. My z is a 1990 # 2441

Forgive me but there are many "all knowing" types that have many years of experience pouring over everything from pep cars, pilots, prototypes, program cars etc that frequent the proto board. I also forgot that we ban general members from clicking on the proto board. Perhaps the new board can fix that pffft. Maybe you can answer the question. You obviously know so much due to your insisting on involving yourself. |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
JC, If they build sheet is purchased, your friend can look at these two boxes:
http://www.syreal.com/074GMService.jpg They will tell you who it was charged to and who it was shipped to. This is a clip of 89 #074s build sheet. It was shipped to the GM Service Dev. Center. This is where the manuals where written and service techniques were ironed out. Of course a week after it was delivered the 89MY was cancelled so the car was reassigned to the PR department. |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
Check to see if #102 has a similar marking on its fan shroud:
http://www.syreal.com/temponshroud.JPG Jingles told me all cars delivered to the tech center coolant systems are checked and the number was written on the fan shroud. To prove I am not "all knowing" I have yet to determine what the number actually means, but I have seen this on virtually all prototypes and engineering units I have witnessed. |

Joe, All good sources (obviously) What I have found is there are many cars that slip throught the cracks. I have talked to many in the "know" about #004 and #074 and they have told me short of the Snake Skinner, 24 hour car etc. They had lots of cars, they don't remember them specifically and it was a long time ago. Best way I have found is get all the available documents and narrow it down that way. Eric |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
Here is what GM Media Archive sent me on #074:
http://www.syreal.com/074Vehicle_Invoice_sm.jpg I have seen similar PEP invoices from a couple 1990's It should tell you when is was sold to an employee or released to a dealer. |

Hey Guys,
My friend sent me the build sheet picture that I have attached and let me know that there was nothing written on the fan shroud. He also wanted to know where he may find information concerning how many were made with his color combination. He just bought the 90 ZR1 and also has a 96 GS Coupe with red interior in the stable. A great sample of the most sought after C4's.Thanks again for your responses. |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
In 1990 there were 181 Dark Red ZR-1's built. Of those, 104 had black interior and 77 had Saddle interior. 1990 #102 was delivered with the Bronze top only.
Enjoy. Jim |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
Thank you for the information Jim. I will pass it along...

Re: 90 ZR1 #102
JC, The Qual-Effic designated that car as a generic test/quality car used to evaluate the car. An interesting fact is most of the 15 France 1989 ZR-1s were built for 047 but then transfered to 052.
Some other C-P-C "Dealers" 052 CPC Group Milford Proving Grounds 185 GM Service Development Center 134 Cambpell-Ewald Ad Agency 780 Chevrolet Advertising Photo #102 was more then likely assigned a "1" p number as a "production" test use car. For example Heinricy's Snake Skinner was assigned 19Y0123 1- Production Pool/general use. 9 = 89 Y = Corvette 0123= 123rd 19Y numbers assigned. So #102 would have been 10Y0XXX This number was used for cost accounting and tracking purposes. Car would have been used by CPC until it reached 3000 miles then it could be sold. There is a slight chance this number is typed on the Build Sheet somewhere. One more area to check for info is on the actual tank sticker. Many tank stickers have addtional hand written notes on them abouve wht the NCM build sheet has. Here is a comparison of #004's NCM sheet and what was left of the tank sticker. http://www.syreal.com/builsheetsm.jpg http://www.syreal.com/tankstickercropsmall.jpg I think other then these two longshots the vehicle invoice may provide some addtional info. Ususally it will at least say when it was sold from CPC inventory. Eric |

Lee do you think that Scott Leon would know anything on the Dieline ZR-1? It's certainly no production car but being that the company worked so closely with GM there may be some kind of "chance". I am still filling in some small gaps early on in the cars life. Sorry everyone I didn't mean to hijack the thread!! Daniel |
Re: 90 ZR1 #102
I dug deep into my archives and thought I would post the 1989/1990 Evaluation form GM would have wanted the driver to use at the end of GM Service:

Re: 90 ZR1 #102
Dempsey, your car was a PEP car of some type. 10y is the tip off. It was a production car used for QC or service . Order the build sheet and Invoice. Well worth the $80 investment. Eric
