Yep,

There are several in a small town on OK. When you drive through town you can see them in the window of one of the buildings on the main street...

How many Nautique ski boats got an LT5?
Mercury Marine didn't use the LT5, did they?

Here are a couple of pictures. I believe these are the only LT5's that Mercury ever built for marine applications.....and the black engine is for display only.

Mercury built one boat with the LT5, the Wette Vette, which was for show purposes only. The engine was ultimately removed and ended up in Rick Kirk's private museum in Ripley, OK. The boat later was fitted with a BB Chevy. The owner was decapitated when he ran into the boat dock. Current whereabouts of the hull are unknown, if it even still exists.

Mercury was under contract to build LT5's for GM/Chevrolet. They did not have license to produce or sell LT5 engines for any other purpose.

When LT5 production ceased for the ZR-1 Corvette, Mercury was allowed by GM to pursue other potential markets for the LT5, one of which was Bentley. Test engines were built for Bentley testing with different cams and ignition system. Ultimately, no aftermarket customers for the LT5 were ever developed.

So, GM won't release our dyno sheets, but they allowed Mercury to try to sell the LT-5 to others.

Re: LT-5 Marine engines

LT-5 came close to being a Bentley engine

That would have been a bummer.

There was an LT-5 powered boat @ an exotic car dealer in ohio last year. Unsure who made it or who purchased it....

Rick sure has the market cornered on rare LT-5 / mercury items!!!!

Three 1650s (two rights and a left, the middle one running a drive shaft) in a Fountain 39 should be just about right!
FU, do ya think we could lap Long Island in an hour and a half?
Stop for lunch at Montauk?

Re: LT-5 Marine engines

Miss Geico races the 1650 and will be in key west racing against the turbine boat of Qatar. They already raced in clearwater fl with the turbine boat winning with geico spinning out. Check out Super boat racing website.

Thanks Rob
