First $100k $tag I've seen...

Never titled, 33 miles. Hmmm...
Torn plastic; not a big deal, but a 'deal' none-the-less for 6 figures. Stained floormat? Well, if it was a leaf, ... ditto... Never seen one with that pricetag. http://www.zr1.net/forum/attachment....1&d=1409705114 |

But you never know though, a 100 large is nothing to the small percent with most of the wealth. You will never get what you never ask for. Impulse buy for them, silly buy for us working class. Not the only one in that condition out there. I have seen others that havent been PDI'd yet. "Never been driven? " Someone drove it 33 miles, and they wouldnt have been "gentle" miles either. Cars like this need to be drained of all fluids and stored in a Nitrogen environment. They will never be driven. Like a wild animal kept in a cage. |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
didnt a 25 miler sell at mecum auction without dealer prep for 35k?? it was white and I saw it in person. Never dealer prepped white with red interior sold for about 35k. It was from the Roger Judski collection. He also owns the one and only 1969 ZL1 yellow Corvette. 100k seems like this guy is dreaming. The car is impeccable. What I look at is the leather grain on the steering wheel and shifter knob. this car is brand new.

It's easy to forget they still haven't became classic's just yet. The sky is the limit for such cars in years to come. At 37 I hope to still be around to see them skyrocket! |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
I think there's a White ZL1 survivor somewhere, although IT probably can't be had for <30 x $100k...

Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
They're nuts. Unfortunately for them, if you sort by price on eBay, directly below this is another red '90 with only 127 miles and the dealer is only asking $47,995. Yeah, it was never titled, which is cool. But $100K? Give me a break.

Well, one advantage to the 33-mile car is that the Bose stereo and lumbar bladders might still work. The 127-mile car has just been driven too much, so both items are probably shot. ;)

So that's 1 of 2 ZL1 Vettes. There were 59 ZL1 Camaros built in 1969.(EDIT:69 in 69) |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
That is correct. It was ordered by George Heberling Chevy Plant Manager. That fender stripe was stock as it left the factory with it. A few people tried to buy it while it sat in a Virginia dealership but it was a rough running car and would load up and stall etc... finally a race enthusiast purchased it. It roughly cost double of a new Corvette because of that zl1 option.

I spoke with the owner of d&m or is it d&a corvette and he rebuilt the engine in that white one but at the time would not confirm its originality. This was in the 1980's so who knows. Maybe its the same car but this time with documentation. |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
I read an article in a hot rod [?] mag 35 years ago about an L88 / C48 [?] vette, with M22 'Rock Crusher' tranny, that was believed to be 550 HP, 17x? MPH capable.
I know in retrospect that the article was about ZL1. Didn't mention rarity, that I remember. Not even a picture, but an artist Black & White sketch. Hmmm... Nothin' like boostin' your own thread ;) |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
I'm stunned. Talk about going off topic. Please start a ZL1 thread...

Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
sorry. On topic, only zr1's that can command 100k+ are the speedsters, LM bodied or twin turbo LT5. I saw a callaway twin turbo LT5 speedster no sale at 150k at mecum. 100k for a stock z is not possible....yet.

Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
I don't know the seller, but they probably aren't the only ultra low mile ZR-1's in Vegas. I know of one of the long time Chevy dealer's here that put away a new vette every year. I don't know if he still does this, but his father did and he continued after his father passed.
I have a hunch that there are probably a good number of low mile Z's around. $100K? gotta put it out there and see if there are any fish in the ocean!! I hope he finds one. |

I think the only way to escalate the price of literally anything is to start asking for more. Consequently, I'm glad to see this happen. EXAMPLE: I recently did a full remodel on my son's house to be able to sell it. The realtor started in with the comp evaluation for a recommended listing price. I said "Everything in construction is going up, labor, materials even new houses. How are we going to justify the remodel cost if we keep comparing to old sales price? By doing that, values will never rise" We listed for 15% more and got nearly 13% more than the comps. You will never get it unless you ask for it. That applies to a lot more than cars & houses ;) |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
And then there were two! This guy just posted a second one Black with only 36 miles. Also asking $100K. He can ask what he wants, but in think he's crazy if he expects to get anywhere near that price.
Jerry, I agree, if we all went with comps, price would never increase. Had the same conversation with my realtor recently. Conversely, expectations on actual selling price need to realistic. H  |

Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
IMHO, those LM's are THE most beautiful C4.
If only GM had seen fit to make the C4 ZR-1 that visually distinctive, you'd see a completely different price structure on used ones today. Face it, we've got a "stealth" collector car. And that's not good for prices. |
Re: First $100k $tag I've seen...
The 90's on ebay is a pipe dream. No way he will get it. Worth 30-35 at best.
