WTB 1991 Corvette ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic

Hello,

If anyone is interested is selling their 1991 Corvette ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic or happens to know where one would be for sale please let me know. If I can't locate one, I would also contemplate a 1992-1995 ZR-1 in Bright Aqua as well. Im looking for an example that is in excellent condition and has been very well maintained. I am not opposed to mods or performance enhancements so long as the car runs and drives excellent. I would be buying outright but would also consider trades for my ultra rare 1987 Buick Turbo-T WE4 with factory CF5 Astroroof and 16k original miles.

Best regards,

Obiwan

Obiwan,

Out of curiosity, what's your motivation for looking to acquire a ZR-1? Just asking. :-D

Over the last 17 years, I have had the pleasure of owning three. Each time I dabble into other makes, models, and styles of performance machines I found my self asking "Why did you do that". Nothing else has ever felt or sounded like a ZR-1, I believe that it is as close to an exotic as America can get. The ZR-1 was the first vehicle I ever loved but also the first machine that ever frightened me. I have danced with the; C5 Z06, LS6 CTS-V, 440 6-Pack Road Runner, Porshe Cayman S, C6 Z06, Testarossa, and the Turbo Buick, but I always come back to that first love.

Obi,

Thank you for that. I haven't had the pleasure of driving some of the high performance stuff you listed, but to know that you're experience is similar to mine and others is really gratifying. So its not just me then!? There is something of a enduring quality and personality of the car.

Obiwan, I know what you mean. I too have owned many interesting exotics, including a Hemi Roadrunner, Porsche C4, Ferrari 308, a Healey 3000, Jeep SRT8, a 54 Aston, several XKEs and other British cars. I've owned a ZR-1 for more years than any other car. I thought I was done with ZR-1s when I sold my 93 in 2007. But I came back with WARP TEN in 2012. It is now for sale (any interest in a green/beige one?) but who knows if I will be back if and when it sells. Meanwhile, going to enjoy it and head for BG in May. --Bob

Gents,

Thanks you for the leads thus far. The Phoenix AZ ZR-1 looks like a nice one, Does anyone know if we happen to have any members in that area that might be able take a look at it and identified any of the model specific problem areas?

Don't be afraid to ship it. Every car I own right now I had to ship.

It's a 2-plus hour drive North to Flagstaff for me, and it would be very difficult to get up there. BUT, if you talk with this guy and you seriously think this is the car for you - pending an inspection - then I'm sure that one of us here in the Phoenix area can help. Or maybe the guy would meet one of us halfway or something?

Daryll, your place is about halfway to Flagstaff!:dancing

Re: WTB 1991 Corvette ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic

Yeah, had to do that a few times myself. The car is actually in flagstaff which is a ways from Phoenix anyway. I have been speaking with the owner and am going to attempt to look for the common issues through face-time. Unfortunately I have confirmed that the injectors have not been changed yet, and we all know what that means for a 90-92 Z...

Re: WTB 1991 Corvette ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic

BTW, this car has been on CL for quite a while and if I remember correctly, he had it lowered to $24,500 for a while, so that should be your starting point if you start negotiating on price. Good news, because $27,500 is too high an asking price for that car, anyway.

Re: WTB 1991 Corvette ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic

I completely agree, with even lower millage 90's and 91's selling for 20-25k his pricing is a bit out of line. The wheels are tasteful and intriguing but without the original saw-blades to go along with them I feel it also makes it a tougher sell.

Obiwan,

I have a Turquoise Met/Black 91 that I might consider selling with about 49K on it. Second owner for 15 years, purchased with 6200 miles on it. Not really for sale but after 15 years could try something new. PM me if you are still interested, will not be cheap.

I hear so many C4 enthusiasts say the same thing. Unfortunately I have never seen a bright Aqua Corvette in person and when viewing the color on the computer to me it almost appears to look Quasar Blue. I have heard that the Bright Aqua cars look so very different depending on the lighting. I wish I could find a shot of a Turquoise Metallic and Bright Aqua Z side by side.

Corvette Mike has a Bright Aqua '95 for sale. 26K on the clock and he's asking $32,900. Too much money, but it looks very nice and it's the rare color you seek.

Aqua has much more blue while turquoise is on the greenish side. Aqua is much softer.

Here's an Aqua 92

Frank,

Yeah that was a pretty car. First Corvette I owned where my wife really loved the color. The Black Rose is very pretty, more classic looking, and a more sophisticated look. Really growing on me. Gets a number of compliments particularly with how the color sets off the silver Z06 wheels.

What did you do to calibrate your speedo with those wheels and what size are they?

XfireZ51 02-14-2015 07:03 PM

Re: WTB 1991 Corvette ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic

I swapped out the 3.45 rear for 3.73. That rear gear plus the stock speedo gear work out to within 3mph error at 70mph when using the 19" wheels. Close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades.

I was very interested in this car a while back. I contacted them with a few questions.

Look at the doglegs (center trim piece behind door) and passenger side gill to hood gap. Mgr said I'll get svc mgr to look at car on lift--for evidence of car being apart. Still waiting a month later. For whatever reason, it iseems out of alignment.

What would you or anybody else here appraise the value of that car at?

Does the color help it or hurt it?

Asking 21,000? 55K? From what I have seen I think he's close to a fair asking price...May be just a little high cause the mileage is over 50K but, does have some mods...

I like the contrast of the chrome wheels and the window tint,I think it makes that color pop ..Paint looks great on that car, rare color....
