Applying Zaino correctly...
To make a long story short, I've used Zaino for about 12 years now, and the stuff is fantastic - especially if you like the LOW MAINTENANCE feature afforded by polishes (as opposed to labor intensive (you name it) wax).
Anyway, I'd not tried their AIO product, and thought I'd give it a try. Results were not good, but the problem was HOW it was applied. Here is what I learned (and thought I'd pass it on soze ya don't do what I did). Paul Workman wrote: |

ANy issue Ive had was in the application as well I'd think. I tried the clear seal once.. and it was hazy and smeary all over. Didn't drive the car for 2 weekends until I could get it all off and start over.

Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
Thanks Paul. I haven't tried the AIO yet so your info is very timely in my case.

Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
You don't hear as much about Zaino these days and never tried it myself, but it sounds like he is a marketing genius to be able to convince people that you need that much product to shine your car.
I'll be honest.. not so much the cost of the stuff, but way too much work for me to have to layer and wait and layer some more. my feeling is: 1) compound (if neglected) 2) polish 3) last step product the lsp can be anything from a cheap flash wax, sealant, or some fancy new hard coating the industry is gravitating towards. |

Zaino is re-branded and marked up Duragloss.
|
Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
Never heard of that before.. Not that it matters to me but Ive never heard of duragloss

Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
I haven't used either, but a professional car detailer here in town told me they are the same product. The Duragloss pricing is much lower.
Here's some info I found on the net. 501 similar to ZAIO (slightly stronger cleaning with 501) 111 similar to Z2 105 similar to Z5 221 similar to Z10 951 similar to Z8 921 similar to Z6 601 similar to ZFX 441 similar to Z9 671 similar to ZPC. |
Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
Lately my process has evolved into:
1. Wash 2. Clay bar 3. Polishing Compound 4. Zaino or Carnuba Morning after heavy rainstorm in SW Michigan http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...psc512addc.jpg |
Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
Success!!
A nice 70+ afternoon, so stripped her (Dawn dw detergent) and rubbed her down with the ZAIO and buffed it off. Frigging amazing results! AND, I've yet to apply any polish coats, but Zaino guys say for their DDs AIO is all they use. Talk about shine! http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...pssrpv6o4c.jpg Oh...in case you were wondering, YES, the hood is popped open - hence the gap. BTW, yes. That is the new hood and front bumper; installed last year to fix my little episode at the WANNAGOFAST 1/2 mile gig, now 2 years ago come June. |

Side by side, people will have their opinions on whether carnuba or polish like the polymer or nano polishes look better. But, there is NO comparison when it comes to keeping it that way. If you like constantly fussing with the shine, and stripping and re-waxing at least once a year, wax - carnuba or whatever - is the way to go (and welcome to it!) Bottom line tho... I don't think enough emphasis can be made on the preparation of the paint first. That is the key to how well this or that works and how much work it is to get it to "show quality" shine. |
Re: Applying Zaino correctly...
Just bought a ton of this product and will be tackling the Zee in a couple of weekends. I am anticipating that I won't need much additional exercise those days, but I am looking forward to the result!
