I have a 1991 ZR1 engine that i am considering putting onto ebay. This engine has been completly taken apart do to a spun main bearing. This engine does not include the computers. Most of the motor has been polished. If anyone wants to make offers feel free to do so.

Either reduce the size of the pictures or seperate them in different posts.

Re: ZR1 engine for sale

Hmmm....

It appears to be missing a vacuum nipple on the middle of the passenger side of the plenum. My '90 has vacuum nipples on both sides there at the midpoint of the plenum. Is it a pilot or mule engine?
Where are the injector housings, don't see them in the pics.

The polished pulleys & oil pan tend to make me believe that this engine more recently came out of something other than a ZR1. What's the point of making pulleys pretty if you never see them?

There is a hole there but dont know why the nipple is missing.
What is a Pilot and Mule?

What is a Pilot and Mule?

There were approximately 49 "Pilot" ZR1's that were made prior to the 1990 debut. They were shown and driven by members of the media (magazine, newspaper, etc.). Most were returned to GM to be crushed, but some were stashed away. A handful still exist today. Occasionally, parts and pieces from them show up in places like eBay. There are small differences between them and the 1990 production models.
"Mules" are GM internal test vehicles that were made to figure out how to shoe horn in the LT5 and also new technologies like Active Suspension. GM never intended that these cars be available to the public, but somehow a few escaped the crusher. At least 3 pre-production Mules were found in a Lotus junkyard in England a few years ago, albiet crushed, but not beyond repair. At least one of them has been brought back to life, here's a link to the story:
