Cary Fisher Fund
We are collecting money this season for a fellow ZR-1 member who several years ago was involved in a very serious car accident that cost him both his legs below the knees. At the time he was out of work and had no medical insurance. Times were tough and we raised money back then that help for awhile for him and his family. But a few years later because of the injuries he had a quadruple bypass and now he and his family are going to lose their house.
So for the holiday season let's put out hearts out and see if we can't help them even if it is just a little to try an ease their suffering. We are taking donations until the 24th. Everyone who donates will have their name throw into a hat to win a set of CNC ENGRAVED LT5 WATER PIPES worth $249.00 or a corvette poster done by a fellow ZR-1 owner. Donations can be made thru the ZR-1 Net store at: http://www.zr1.net/ZR1netstore/index.html So lets show Cary and his family what kind of family they really belong to!:handshak: Thanks you! Mom |

Re: Cary Fisher Fund
Anyone work for or know someone that works for FedEx or another company that would be interested in donating the delivery of the check to Cary? We have looked into doing a Saturday (23rd) or Sunday (24th...so far NO WAY) delivery and it will cost ~$200 to send it in an expedited manner. We would much rather have the money get to him than have to use much or any of it on the delivery charges. We want to get it to him by Christmas...by the way...the new total is just shy of $8000...and one member has agreed that if we get to $9000, he will donate the remaining $1000 to bring us to the $10,000 mark. I have to say I think this is amazing! What a great job everyone has done and what a gift we are providing to someone who is in desperate need. If you know any of the details...he is in need for sure! He lost his legs in an accident in a ZR-1.
What an awesome chance to give to someone in our community that is in serious need... |

Re: Cary Fisher Fund--A LETTER FROM CARY'S PARENTS TO ZR-1 MoM
FROM ZR-1's MoM's DESK~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wanted to forward an email I just received from Cary's parents about our fund raiser for their son. Mom Dave Bright ZR-1 Net Registry President www.zr1netregistry.com (603)888-2731 In a message dated 23/12/2006 00:35:18 GMT Standard Time, Gjellyfisher writes: Dear Mr Bright (aka'Mom'), and all the members of the zr1 club, My wife and I have just received a very emotional e-mail from our son, Cary Fisher. We have wondered what the word 'gobsmacked' actually means, well, thanks to all of you,-we now know. American Hospitality and generosity is legendary, and your fund raiser means so much to Cary. In England in 1942 I was 16 years old and working for the war effort on a milling machine when we had a delivery of machinery from America. The packing case was crammed with tins of food, - amazing to us, as we were severely rationed at this time.Just a little note to say it was from the workers in South Bend, Illinois. Now I have another story to tell about helping and giving. ( In Dec 1943 at 17. 1/2 saw me joining the Royal Navy and 'demobbed') late in 1946). Now 80, Jean and I wish to thank you all immensely, you have brought a bright light into this foggy day in and around London.Bless you all. Sincerely Jean & Gerry Fisher |
Re: Cary Fisher Fund LATEST UPDATE 12-26-06
From ZR-1 MoM's Desk~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below is an email from Cary. On the fund we are well over $12,000! Mom Dear DAVE "MOM".. AND ALL, as I am lost for words entirely today, Christmas Day..... OK.... I'll try... It is with AMAZED delight to spend a few moments thinking and THANKING all of you who have helped us when we need it most. The Difference you have made is incredible, and has left us unstressed just at the right time. The actions of you fellows is something you should be VERY PROUD OF, and the effects of your generosity so moving.. And has helped around the World(I DO HOPE you got to read the note from my "Gobsmacked" father, who remembers well what generosity Americans are capable of!). Well you DID it again! "Mom" I told you when we get to meet I am not going to just shake your hand..YOU ARE GETTING A HUG, and that applies to anyone of you also, and I threaten to get to the yearly "gathering", always been a dream, and do so realistically in person if possible!(If you cannot "hug" your Mom, who can you?) From ALL of the GRATEFUL FISHER Family("Gob" is "mouth", actually!), THANKS AGAIN... BTW. The "card" Mom sent had the following... "THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD CANNOT BE SEEN OR TOUCHED....THEY MUST BE FELT WITH THE HEART" (Hellen Keller). And, WE have felt such so much, Cary, Diane, Monte & Zasu Fisher. |
Re: Cary Fisher Fund
Man o man Mom you are right on with that quote from Hellen keller!
That's waaaay sweet! to Mom! |
Re: Cary Fisher Fund
this was posted on the net....................
To Mom and all the kids, As you all know this is a very special place, always has been. I generally lurk around here basking in the benefits of being associated with the diversity, skill, knowledge and controversy that add depth and richness to the ZR1 experience. This group has grown around the celebration of a unique vehicle and the exceptional circumstances that came together to create it. The events of past two weeks certainly reach to that same level and have been simply amazing. Being somewhat of a believer in destiny I can't help but wonder how we, all of us, came to this point beginning with a simple lust to turn those two keys for the first time. Something way beyond special has occurred here. Much more than extraordinary financial generosity and compassion, you have enriched this group with another dimension, it now has a Soul. Cary and family have been blessed by you with much more than money, you have gifted them with Hope and maybe a bit of breathing room too. It is my belief that this organization will never be the same again, it will certainly be enhanced by the fact that we all shared in this legacy, the very, very special Holiday Season 2006. Indeed, this is a rare and special place! Blessings and special thanks to you and yours this holiday season and a very happy New Year. John R. Sullivan 1991 #283, Original owner |
