Seeking a answer

Learning more and more about my recently purchased 1990 ZR1 #0106. It was a GM car until 1995. My question is does anyone know what CPC Group Engineering Center 30003 Van Dyke RM. A106 Warren MI is or was. That is who my car was titled too til 1995. Also found a article that stated the first 1990 ZR1 on public roads was #0114 purchased from a dealership in Marietta GA. Any help or info would be great. Trying to learn as much as possible as fast as possible.

No offense to anyone who is a Engineer , but I bet those guys with pocket protectors and slide rules had some fun in #0106 back in the day.....

None taken its our job to test the limits of the gear. Cool that is one of the first. There are some guys on here or on Corvette Forum that work for GM maybe they can pull some records. Knowing the color and other details maybe helpful. Did you look on the hood (when open) for any signatures? You may want to pull the seat bottom cushions and see what you find under there. I found the original purchase receipt for my old 83 Volvo that way.

Re: Seeking a answer

That would be great to find out more info.....No signature under the hood but the previous owner showed me what looked like a piece of masking tape on the pass. visor mirror. Ill have to look at it again and try to figure out what is written on it. The previous owner said the first owner told him it had to do with being a GM car and to never take it off....

Oh yea its Red with Red interior, looks like the Engineers put about 21000 on it from 90-95. I got a ton of documentation, a NOS from air dam, a NOS in line fuel filter, a NOS serpentine belt, and the original tires from the previous owner.

Based on the VIN data that I collected, the first 1990 sold to the public was #0019.

Interestingly, VIN's 0020,0021,0023 to 0027, 0029 to 0031 were all European Export cars.

Thanks for the info. My info was a photo copy of a magazine article with all the paper work that came with my car but it doesn't have a date or what magazine it was from.

Re: Seeking a answer

GM had carlines arranged in groups back then - I think CPC stood for Chevrolet, Pontiac and Cadillac (?).

At first I thought those might have been the cars on the ZR-1 european press junket, but those were 1989's, weren't they?

30003 Van Dyke in Warren is the General Motors Technical Center. Sounds like a rare car, but then all ZR-1's are.

The CPC Group is at the GM Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. Its on Van Dyke.

Re: Seeking a answer

The CPC Group is no longer. We are now comprised of much more corporate oriented groups.

The test tracks are located at the Milford Proving Grounds.

Of course, Pontiac doesn't exist any longer, and u now have GM Powertrain, but was there not a testing facility at Warren? I realize Milford is a different facility, but it looked as if there was some very high fencing at Warren that looked to hide some track testing facilities. This is in the mid 2000's altho looking at Google Maps, there appears not to be.
I worked for a company out of Warren and would stay at the Marriot across Van Dyke.

My 1990 z #2441 has the original window sticker showing delivery to warren Michigan the proving ground; but when I ordered a second copy from NCM shows it shows delivery to Champion Chevrolet in Manhatton Beach, California. The car was sold from that dealership. I don't understand why the original window sticker says warren Michigan delivery and repo says Manhatten Beach CA???? So the repo sticker is correct because I have paper and salesman cards from Champion Chevrolet in CA. And yes both window stickers are for car 2441. Any ideas out there?

Re: Seeking a answer

As stated 1990 #0106 was "owned" by GM until 1995. Then as it was explained to me by the po that it had to be sold by a Chevrolet dealership to the first private owner. I don't have my paperwork with me as far as the dealership but it had to with some type of legality.
