Billy Boat or Borla?
 

If I can find access to a 4 post lift I'm going to put an exhaust on my car. Don't really want Corsa so I'm looking at options,i understand the drone issue has been fixed with the BB and Borla.

I have B&B in one car , its quality that's for sure ! And Borla in another !

Borla is fine, i just hate how the tips look.

I ran Borla on my 1991 ZR-1 back in the early 90s. Back then Borla was the only aftermarket HP exhaust available for Zs.
My understanding is that Borla exhaust diameter pinches as it enters resonators.
Also, I recall seeing a post that solution to B&B resonating may have resulted in creating restriction to flow.
Another option is OBX. These look almost identical to Corsa. However, OBX uses more conventional sound reduction strategy - namely perforated pipe with fiberglass insulation ins the chamber. Resulting sound is more mellow but deeper growl at full throttle.
I have been running OBX since 2013 (I think...) and only complaint I have is the exhaust clamps supplied with the kit are junks. I installed my OBX using Torca clamps.

I'm running OBX as well...Really like the sound but it is does drone in 6th gear.....All though I'm not really in 6th that much...

And yes the fitment and the clamps suck....

I noticed that when I got my bill from my mechanic....

That's odd... I have no drone even in 6th. Are you running headers or factory exhaust manifolds?

Fitment issue? Is that what the mechanic told you? It was no better nor worse compared to Corsa.

I have the same setup.
What rpm are you sensing the drone? Can you describe it? Are you running resonators?

Drone will be different from person to person. Everyone’s ears work differently what might be drone to some will not be to others..

I've tried them all and I think Billy Boat is the exhaust system that our cars are meant to run.

I have the old borla, stick didn't sound good, but I removed the resonator and installed an x-pipe and it sounds really good now...

I've had the Borla, and it sounded sweet, with no resonance. But it was restrictive and did not have much effect on performance. I switched to the old style B&B many years ago, and I love it.
My setup = Watson headers, no cats, no resonator, 3" X pipe, 3" B&B exhaust and mufflers.
It's a beast, and it sounds like one.

Another data point for you. I have Borla mufflers, a SW X-pipe, OBX headers and no cats. I love the way my car sounds. I've gotten compliments from folks. I do have more drone than most people would be happy with. I can make it more tolerable with a light throttle pedal. I only care about the drone when my wife is with me.

Jeff - you asked earlier what the Banks Engineering tips look like when fitted to the Corsa exhaust on my car. They look exactly like the B&B set up on Mr Yuk’s picture. For me, it is the best of all worlds - tips fit the opening nicely and have all the benefits of the Corsa. Great sound and performance and absolutely no drone in any gear with 4:10s.

if B&B had no drone like corsa I would have done B&B. Corsa has no drone and I enjoy driving a car with no drone.

Well said, and true!

Borla, while well made, remains too quiet.

If you want F1 race car sound go Corsa.

If you want deep old school sound go B&B.

Flowmaster sounded great, but it was aluminum, so not the best choice.

I have the Flowmaster with Flowmaster series 50 Delta Flows with OBX headers, much like Hib Halverson wrote about. Not stainless but the Z never sees rain so I should be good for a long time. It sounds great, read a comment on here that the sound keeps improving over time, I'm finding that to be very true.

Thanks for all the tips everybody. I'm looking at the BB Fusion setup. Just need to figure out the plumbing without drilling any holes. I'm going to look for power at the fuse panel behind the radio if there is an optional spot. All still in the planning stages. I just need to round up a 4 post lift and find a place to stash my stock system.

I've had B&Bs, Borlas and Power Effects. I have Corsa on both my cars as I could not handle the resonance. GC

Personal opinion... The best all around system currently available for our cars is the latest version of the B&B Fusion. No drone with valves open or closed, aggressive sound with the valves open, quiet closed. Make sure you specify the oval cans. They've built some using round cans from C5/C6's that look out of place on our cars. Also don't buy an earlier used set. They had major reliability problems before the current generation.

I think we all would agree the worst sounding LT-5 is the one that is not running.... Regardless of all the exhaust system options there is nothing running on the street to date that sounds as unique and cool as a LT-5. They're like driving a video game and I feel like it's privilege to own one.

In the past B&B & drone & C4 went together maybe they fixed it, doubt they would be spending time & $ on C4 these days

Ive got an unexpected expense that just came up so once again I have to put the exhaust on hold. Thanks to all for the suggestions,one of these days I'll get a system on this car.
