Good looking wheel.
Are they the right offset?

saving a bit of $$ on the tires, buying them through my dealership seperately 4 tires $420 mounted and balanced. I was wondering if the color was going to be too dark on the white Z...I have old chromed 93 sawblade now with the original tires GS-C .

should look good. too bad the rear lugs will most likely be the wrong depth.

wrong depth?????

Re: opinions on this wheel

The newer knockoff A-molds have a less deep center/hub part on the rear, so they don't look as obviously wide. Also those have the more squarish spokes than the more rounded originals.

Those centercaps are a knockoff too, that isn't the Corvette logo.

That said, they should look pretty nice in gunmetal on a white car.

Most likely they won't have the deep lugs. What I can tell you for sure is that the rears have the wrong offset. They should be 36mm.

Re: opinions on this wheel

They will still look good. they may not have the deep lug well but they do have a deeper lip on the rear which is kinda cool.

Re: opinions on this wheel

Good info guys...problem being , the price is pretty good and unless a nice set of 93 wheels show up that are affordable , these might be ok. I would like to see them on a car first though, if its going to be obvious.

Putting a new set of tires and a new set of wheels on the car for less than $950 bucks....but as they say ...you get what you pay for :)

I bought mine from Destroyer. Jeffvette powdercoated them and will stand behind them. Maybe ask him what it would cost to powdercoat yours, that is unless you want the A-Molds. He can do any color you want.

Is it possible to take a wheel from old chrome to the original finish?

affordably :sign10:

Re: opinions on this wheel

Talked to O E Wheels today offset is 56mm Front 50mm Rear

Aurora40 03-08-2007 12:23 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

I believe that's the GS offsets (front is the same as ours though) for the '91 and later non-ZR1 cars.

Correct...those are non-ZR-1 offsets for the rear. The fronts are correct. Rear offset is 36MM as previously stated.

See...http://zr1netregistry.com/ZR1_dimensions.htm the chart is at the bottom for wheel offsets:thumbsup:

It's for 88-96 cars. The 84-87 requires a 36mm offset front and rear.

Re: opinions on this wheel

do you all think this will look screwy?? I can only test fit the wheel without the tire mounted to be able to return the wheel for a refund....

Jeffvette 03-08-2007 01:10 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

With that offset, the wheel is going to be sunk into the fender about 1"

Norsky4360 03-08-2007 01:31 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

You could add a spacer to get the wheel/tire positioned correctly. I had to do that on my '70 when I switched to ZR-1 type wheels. They're a little tough to see in the picture below (click on it to see a bigger image) but in person they're fairly easy to spot. If all you need is an inch they would be almost invisible.

Re: opinions on this wheel

I'd send them back and get the correct offset

Artic93 03-08-2007 02:10 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

so 13mm difference will be about an inch to narrow? I don't have the wheels bought yet.

Kevin 03-08-2007 02:14 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

the offset won't impact the width of the wheel, just how it sits on the car

Artic93 03-08-2007 02:25 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

Ok , will a spacer really make it look correct, and is that safe?

guinnessdood 03-08-2007 02:37 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

An inch spacer is pretty healthy...and you'll have to use longer wheels studs I would imagine. I would not opt for the incorrect offset wheels myself.

Artic93 03-08-2007 03:31 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

yeah I'm cooling on the idea ...damn! I guess I'll stick with my original older chrome and try and make 'em look nice.

Kevin 03-08-2007 03:38 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

you can try and find some with the correct rear offset, or find stock oem ones and have them pced any color you want. I maybe talking to jeff when i get my next car

Then just try to find the right ones. That's a much better solution than spacers. They shouldn't be too hard to find in the correct offset.

Artic93 03-08-2007 06:12 PM

Re: opinions on this wheel

easy to find.....expensive to buy ,close to 1500 just about everywhere for A molds...for 93 silver finish... next to impossible

What Fikse are you thinking of? I just got a set of Fikse Aro's for my black Z. They're pretty cool IMO.

Re: opinions on this wheel

I found some on ebay...correct offset, made by factory reproductions....i think if you just type in "true zr1" for the search, it will bring up the correct wheels instead of having to sort through all the other non zr-1 offset wheels.
