hood mini shocks
Question? On my 1990 ZR-1 I have mounts for two mini shocks. What or
how do you secure them to the mounts. Now some cars do not have the mounts with studs and you could use bolts and spacers to secure them. VIN 2546 build date march 1990. John |

Re: hood mini shocks
My 91 had the studs so I just got the shocks and keepers for a earlier year that they were available on.

Phil, Do you also run the stock single lift with the additional two small lifts? My understanding is that it is too much lift? I bought the kit for the two small ones about 10 years ago and never installed them. Now that I think about it, it was for my 90 and like John mentioned were studs. Thanks. What year were they available on? I'll keep looking maybe e-clip?

Re: hood mini shocks
The stock single lift cylinder is still installed .
It was getting weak however, after installing the two small ones they work fine together plus you have the safety stop in case a wind gust comes along. Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry |

Re: hood mini shocks
I put the minis on my 91. Held in place with small flat washers and small cotter pins. Easy Peasy. The holes for pins are in the studs. 3 gas struts are great.

Re: hood mini shocks
Guy's,
Thanks for the information on the studs with holes on them. After cleaning out 30 + years of dirt and grime I was a able to install the mini shock on the right side of hood. I now can open hood at a 45 deg. and still stay open ( just for show) I won't leave it like that. Also my hood is an early TELDO PRO 3 in so it is lighter the stock. http://www.zr1.net/forum/picture.php...pictureid=4673 |

Air filter housing is an improved version of the Coplan made by the extraordinary craftsman and WAZOO member George Braml. Unfortunately George passed away several years ago. Way to early. We sure do miss him.
