ZR1 brake lines

Hi, just want to know if the zr1 brake lines are the same as any standard C4, hi have brembos with steel lines, and a friend wants to know where to order just steel braided brake hoses to fit the standard ZR1 calipers in his car.

This is open to debate but I would say not exactly. The fronts are the same but the backs on a true ZR1 brake line are just a little longer than a standard C-4. Ever noticed that many manufacturers will say all C-4 Corvettes ( exc. ZR1) ? The extra length in the rear line on Z lines makes installation easier. Having said all of this, it is possible to route the C-4 rears to fit. Confused ?

This got thrashed around on the zr1net some years back and I don't remember the outcome. I find it hard to believe the ZR-1 rear is any different because the frame and calipers are the same. The best way to check is see if GM lists a different part number for the ZR-1. I tried Russell lines and couldn't get them to seal even though they were long enough. The ones from Movit work fine, as do the ones I got from Rippie. I prefer the Movit ones; not sure of the maker but they are/were European with TUV certification, and all four were the same length. Holler if you need more and I'll check the trailer toolbox ...

I just did this upgrade a month ago. I actually used lines that said
non-ZR-1. The lines were Russells and they fit just fine. No problems.

It's real simple. The ZR1 has wider wheels and the extra length allows a little more room to clear the tires.

All the extra tire and wheel width is on the outside; clearance on the inside should be the same.

To determine if ALL the extra width is on the outside or some is on the inside we need the offset for the standard wheel and the ZR1 wheel. We know the offset for the ZR1 wheel is 36mm for the rear and 56mm for the front.

Do you know what is the offset on the standard C4 wheel, or are you just guessing?

Standard wheel is the same size/offset as the ZR-1 front.

There probably is a line difference, but it is negligable in the aftermarket hoses. Just make sure you get them pointed away from the tire when you tighten them down.

Just a FWIW on the s/s brake hoses......I agree with Jeff about the closeness & how ya gotta rotate them. When I put mine on I didn't like how close they still were to the rear wheels so my soloution was to get some old fashioned rubber fuel line and put it over my rear lines and tie them back with some zip ties. 2yrs and no marks on the fuel lines @ the rears. It don't look pretty...but it gives me peace of mind.

Re: ZR1 brake lines

Hello.

Genuine GM brake caliper hoses for ZR1 are the following:

FRONT: P/N 10222295 2 required L or R
REAR : P/N 10222294 2 required L or R

Alternatively, you can purchase ACDelco hoses with this part numbers:

FRONT: GM P/N 18032754 - ACD P/N 18J1043 L or R
REAR : GM P/N 18032753 - ACD P/N 18J1042 L or R

Regular C4 brake hoses are different GM part numbers, depending on the Model Year vehicle and if you have heavy duty brakes RPO.

With vehicle VIN number I can send to you exact GM part numbers for your car.

Thanks.

Ramon

And remember....

ZR1 means PUSHROD FREE.

GBRTNG,

Comparing the 11" wheels vs. 9.5" wheels on the rear of the car the tire would stick out 20mm on the outside and 18mm on the inside (based on 36mm and 56mm offset).

So not all of the width is on the outside under these conditions. That will explain the slightly longer brake line on the Z. If the line is properly turned the standard C4 length line should clear on the ZR1. Would it clear a 335 tire? I wonder.

I'll make some measurements the next time I have the car on a llft.
