basic questions

1991 ZR1 w 75k miles.
I have the start of a very small oil drip.
I was using mobil 1 (10quarts). Should I change
I like the bosch filter
what are the torque specs for the oil drain plug
what are the torque specs for lug nuts
what is recommended for coolant (I think I remember 50% distilled and something else, I'm about the pull the rad and clean it and just want to make sure im putting the right coolant in it for Florida weather)

thanks in advance, you guys on this forum have been great. Without you Id be much poorer and have a poorly running car.

Yes, you should change your oil. Amsoil is now the oil of choice for the ZR-1. Bosch filter is fine.

Any coolant meeting the 1825M spec for GM. Do not use any of the "fits all coolant" brands. Napa carries the green stuff that is correct. It comes in a blue container.

I run more water than coolant. Coolant does not have the same cooling capacity as water.

On an oil change you should add 8-9 qts.

Jeff's right, water does a much better job of dissipating heat than coolant. In summer time i tell my customers to go 70/30-80/20 water/coolant ratio. But not at the race track...water only!

Coolant is a bitch to clean off the track. Not many happy people when you blow a hose or stuff it into the wall.

Hi guys....
Another of my thousand questions:
Which is the best complete manual for Zr-1?And where i can buy it?
I'll like to buy a technical manual where i can find all the spec for lt5, with the right torque for all nuts and screw (the most important)??
Thank you so much:handshak:

Go to http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage...ls&FORM=MSNH11

The set (5 sets of documents and supplements) runs $105 plus about $16 S&H.

Coolant.... Texaco 'green stuff' also meets the 1825M spec Jeff noted

I suspect if I stuffed my car into a wall, I'd be the one who was the most unhappy, regardless of coolant choice! :jawdrop:

FYI on the 1825-M spec. I believe Prestone's "all makes", and I think even Dex-Cool are listed as meeting that spec. But you don't want to use them.

You want a traditional silicated ethylene glycol coolant. If you have difficulty finding the right thing, GM and AC Delco still sell it. However, expect to pay through the nose. I seem to recall it being close to $30 for a gallon last time I bought one.
