Interior project

This is my own personal car. This all started with removing the dash to replace a module. Well, while I was at it, it snowballed into a monster project.

1) Completely stripped the interior out
2) Installed sound deadener
3) Install a new headunit
4) Reroute all stereo wiring
5) Steam clean carpet
6) Repair fiberglass

Re: Interior project

That's pretty much how the interior looks in my Z, lol! I've got all the seats, carpet & center console out. I'm planning on steam-cleaning my carpets, too. But, I like the stock Bose system, so I'm reinstalling it (car didn't come with original speakers/amps, only the headunit & CDM).

I'm thinking about putting in some sound-deadening matting also.

Nice job Jeff!

The carpet looks brand new! :)

Careful now, you might be a 'closet waxer' in the early infection stages!

Re: Interior project

Heat barrier and sound deadening material (I used Dynamat) and fixing 19 years worth of creaks and buzzes really makes a difference. Makes a 91Z ride at least as good as a 95 if not better. The heat barrier, especially with around the center console made a huge difference.

I still think that mat looks like a "Transformers" head.

When you took out the dash did you see where the heater mix door/actuator is? Mine needs replacing and told the dash has to be dropped. If you saw it where in the third pic would it be and would it have to be totally dropped? Thanks

Man Jeff even you've got an upgraded stereo from stock. I'm torn between keeping the stereo stock and having a stereo system that can punch you in the chest. But at the same time mines not a daily driver so I don't know if it's worth it to switch everything over from a 2 ohm system to 4 ohm.
