What you see in the pics I posted are:
  1. Stainless Works headers w/ 3" OD collector outlets.
  2. Magnaflow MPE-59959 7.75" length cats (with 1/2" cut from each side to further reduce length) w/ 3" ID slip on connections to Stainless Works header 3" OD collectors and retained by heavy duty SS seal clamps.
  3. The Magnaflow cats have Stainless Works part # TT32.5 3" to 2 1/2" SS transition reducers (length cut to fit) welded to the discharge side (examples)http://www.stainlessworks.net/cart/i...ng%20trans.jpg
  4. which are welded to the 2 1/2" SS flex sections
  5. which are then welded to the 2 1/2" Corsa system.
In my case I wanted flex sections right after the cats to help isolate vibration and reduce the bending forces transmitted to the headers and engine by the rather rigid construction of Corsa exhaust system. The SS flex sections are 2.5" ID x 4" long, slip-on weld type from Vibrant Performance part # 45544

These flexes are gas-tight construction with inner and outer braided SS liners to help protect the SS bellows. I would have preferred to use even longer flex sections and added SS V-band clamps to ease of assembly but Corsa pipe on the driver's side did not allow for enough length between the cat outlet and the first bend to fit all of these components in and at the time I did not want to get into heavily modifying the Corsa piping. As it turned out the flex sections were all that was needed to help make assembly and removal of the exhaust system via the collector clamp joints a snap. I have about 750 miles on the sytem since installed and so far no problems to report except for an even a more accute case of perma grin.
Was curious if the Flex sections helped out with anything on your install..

It is a nice clean setup.

Are the Stainless work headers the first style before they retooled them a year or so ago?

Thanks for the complement.
The flex sections provide just enough give on alignment to make mounting and dismounting of the entire exhaust system a snap compared to a rigid system.

I'm not sure which style the SW headers are. They fit with no issues and the workmanship was superb. However, wished I'd ordered an extra set of o2 bungs welded in before they were coated.

Thanks Phil.. looking to do something similar when I add cats to my current system.. I have Watson's which are the same as the early Stainlessworks ones

I need to get under the car to see what I am needing

I'm running SW's, no cats and Corsa exaust and I can tell you the SW's and the Corsa system don't like each other. In your opinion what can be done to make the sound more likable. The Corsa before the headers sounded great and now other than full throttle it sounds like s***. Would an X pipe improve things?

if i can ask what dont you like about the sound ???? i have the same set up on my 92 and really didnt notice much difference except it was a little louder when you opened it up

Wide open throttle is ok. When I am cruising along and give it a little gas it sounds like put, put put. Maybe it is just inside that it sounds like crap.

No, the Magnaflow cats are 3" ID on both ends.
They slip-fit on the SW header collectors and the 3" to 2 1/2" SS transition reducers which are both 3" OD
