LT5 injector set-up with programmable ECU

1 Attachment(s)
I'm building a custom corvette ('62 body/ custom chassis / LT5 engine). I just purchased a fully programmable ECU from Autronic which is more than capable of controlling the LT5. I am removing the vacuum secondary actuators and running all the ports open. I would like some advice on how to run the injectors.

Should I run the engine on just the primary injectors for low-RPM and low load driving, then have the secondary injectors kick in under significant load? The other option would be to run the engine with all injectors firing.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Brett

Very helpful info! I suppose that if this method is optimal, it should work well with both the stock ECU and on my project.

Not sure why you wouldn't want to make your life a bit easier and just use the stock ECM.

Re: LT5 injector set-up with programmable ECU

My LT5 engine came without a harness and ECU. A stock ECU and harness are almost the same price as my Autronic SM4 unit; but the Autronic has provisions for all kinds of cool features including forced induction, rev-matched shifts, turbo anti-lag, data logging of track laps & drag passes etc.
Even with my relatively stock LT5 I can tune this computer to manage my engine more efficiently than with the stock unit and I don't have to deal with 20 year old stuff. Yes it will be more difficult to set up initially but I hope to be happier with the results. Also, my original plan was to run turbochargers. If I choose to add turbos or other modifications I can simply re-tune.

Cool looking project! I have a 65 coupe with an LT5 and also helped a friend put an LT5 into a 55 chev convertible. The 65 uses a stock ECM ( with marcs chip) and aftermarket wiring and the the 55 used stock ECM and wiring. Cant help you out with your ECU but if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

thanks for the support! It's great that there is so much help available for a somewhat rare engine retrofit.
