O2 Sensor Plug

3 Attachment(s)
OK, got a strange one. Has anyone who has installed Stainless Works Headers on a 90 recently and used the pigtail extension provided by SW on the passenger side? If so, did you have an issue with the pins not being the correct gender? For some reason SW has the female end of their pigtail extension pinned with female pins. My O2 sensors have male plug with female pins. The connector on the wiring harnes as a female plug and male pins. The guy at SW swears this is how they have made them for years and no one has had an issue. Just curious if anyone has run in to this.

Rich, do all of the used sensors that I that I left there have the same connector? SW is obviously confused.

Yep sure do. Yeah that was my first thought too, maybe they changed the pin on different years, or the pin was different between passenger and drivers side but nope, all the same. SW is calling Marc H. to ask him if he has ever ran across this with all the installs he does with SW. Will keep you posted.

I'm glad you posted up Rich. It prompted me to go look inside the box and I didn't even get anyO2 extension harnesses....guess that part was not in with the GB we did. I'm glad I looked. :coffee:

Hey did they include header bolts with yours? I just looked at what came with my package and at the risk of seeming like an ingrate...regular hex head bolts with flat washers don't hardly seem like the best choice of hardware.

Thanks for the wake up call!

You're right Tom, they didn't include extensions with the packages sold in the GB, or for some time after. Good to see they are at least trying to put together an install kit.

I wonder if the fitment issue that caused the need to relocate the dipstick tube has been corrected?

If not, perhaps they should buy some Paul Workman custom relocating brackets to include in their kit!

I have one of Paul's brackets and a nice set of Stage 8 locking bolts that I won't be using. If you'd like them you're welcome to them - just PM your address and they're yours!

Hey Tom,
Yes, mine came with the extension and the hex head bolts you described and they went unused. Upon WAZOO recommendation, I went with the Stage 8 bolts. The head are quite a bit smaller and if you want to get all 32 installed, it's the only way....IMHO.

Re: O2 Sensor Plug

The dipstick bracket we used on Rich's header installation worked just fine (though not sure where it came from). One thing we learned the hard way (again) it is most important to test fit the bolts you are going use in all of bolt holes of the header flanges before starting the installation. Confirm on the work bench beforehand that the bolts will not only go in all the available holes but also insure there is sufficient clearance with the pipe to get a wrench on them so they can be tightened. In Rich's case the bolt in the lower rear hole of #3 cylinder had to be shortened to 22mm and the box end wrench had to be ground down to get it to fit over the bolt head and he was using small head Stage 8 bolts with 8mm 12 point heads. The bag of bolts SW sent with the headers have regular 13mm hex heads. From what I could see these bolts will work okay in the locations that do not have clearance issues but will be next to impossible to us in the several that do.

I just got my harness back from Haibeck with O2 extensions attached, I'll check them today as I don't have any O2 sensors yet.... Can you tell me the brand O2 sensor's you are running and the part# of the ones you prefer? Thanks!

Based on what I see here, I would be willing to bet money that the female end of the extension pigatail connected to the 02 sensor has male pins.
