Are the Ac delco starters any good on Rock auto. They are $134

I noticed they listed a thermostat housing for LT5 - checked an LT1 and ayup, same #.

You should probably check to make sure the starter they list is a different PN than an LT1...

I just bought the contact kit on eBay and rebuilt mine.. all that goes bad typically is the contacts

Jeff, how difficult a job is the rebuild? (easier than getting to the starter, I hope ;))

It is pretty straight forward.. it took about 30-45 min to fix the starter once I figured out how it comes apart

You can search online for Denso starter rebuild instructions/pics.

The starter motor itself is very rugged, ball-bearing construction, seldom fails unless subjected to conditions outside design spec (i.e. water submersion, other causes of corrosion).

The need for rebuild comes from the copper contacts, and plunger, wearing thin.
