Noticed a bug

I was in the members only looking at the parts list, I was looking at group 4a 90 external transmission, for the reverse light switch. When I scrolled down from the diagram to the parts list from one page to the next, all of the sudden I was on a White Racing Products webpage:confused:. It happens everytime I scroll between the two pages, I can hit the back button to get back to the parts list, but why does it jump to this other webpage? Is this just happening to me, or is there a minor glitch w/ it? Thx

I don't see a problem on the members only parts page but then I don't see a 4a 90 section either.
Can you post a link to where you are?

On the left of the page, there are groups 0-16, + breaks each group down further, when you +4a the first group is 90 external trans. I copyed it, but when I put it in a new window, it brings you to the main page.

Re: Noticed a bug

Ok, yes I now can verify it is reproducible.

How to reproduce:

1. Go to http://www.zr1netregistry.com/index.htm

2. click on the top "Members Only" tab

3. log in (login name and password required)

4. Find "Complete ZR-1 Parts Listing. (Warning PDF file is very large, 40MB's)" on the page. Click on the "ZR-1 Parts Listing" link then wait for pdf to load.

5. Look on the left for "GROUP 4a" and expand it by clicking on the "+".

6. Now click on the "90 TRANSMISSION (EXTERNAL)"

7. Now click on the exploded ZF6 image on the right and scroll down to the bottom of the pdf file.

8. Notice: at some point you get thrown into the a different page called
http://www.whiteracingproducts.com/
What is MOST disturbing is the there is a LONG period of time to recover (clicking the browsers' back button) because it has to reload the PDF file.

That sounds like there is a link embedded in the pdf somewhere that you're either clicking on without realizing or it's somehow triggering itself. It's not a problem with the site as such.

The best bet is probably to avoid it and download the pdf then open it up outside your browser. Right click on link and select "Save As" or something similar (it depends on the browser you're using) to save a copy of the pdf.

It will still open the White Racing website probably if you trigger it, but at least you won't have the hassle of trying to do a "back" reloading the pdf etc.

Ok, so I'm not crazy, lol. It is strange though. Was worried I picked up spyware or virus, as long as I'm not the only one:cheers:.

This is not a case of somehow clicking on a link. I could believe that if it were just one of us seeing it but there are two now. Neither of us clicked on a link. As to root cause, it most certainly is a problem with the pdf document. The document is housed on the site. The document has a most painful error in it. Therefore the error is with the site.
A surgeon may blame the sponge for being left in the patient but the sponge is part of the hospital. If I were the surgeon I'd remove the sponge (document) until it can be diagnosed.

That parts list is reproduced ( I'm not sure I used the correct description? ) from a file that Kurt offers/ used to offer to his customers. I remember the first order I placed with Kurt's company arrived with a CD version of what is over at our Net Reg site.

I agree w/ Scott, I didn't click on anything, it just simply redirected me to another website. I noticed on my reader that pdf has at least one signature problem. When I looked into it, it gave me details. Can't paste them to this but, it a nutshell it says Kurt White is the signer, and he's not a trusted identity. Was last checked 2012.08.05 10:51:51-4:00'. Sounds like he created or posted the pdf and somehow he embedded the website on the pdf? Not sure. Check your reader for a signature problem and click on it for details. I'm no computer tech, but something doesn't seem right.

Dave has his hands pretty full right now.
I will spend some time on this next week to try and isolate. It would appear that there is an embedded "mouse over" or some such redirection.
