425 gross. 435 if you believe the car made 385 vs the advertised 375

I thought there was good discussion in that thread, silly it got locked IMO, if there is one thing car guys will have varying opinions about, it is power numbers.

I remember the gross number being 425 gross hp from that thread as well. 425 gross hp is a number of which most a stock BBC couldnt attain off the assembly line(except for the rare BBC examples, and then only with headers and tuning). The stock LT5 does so, with 30% let cubes, and gets superior fuel economy and has superior driveability.

In another thread Graham B posted a dyno graph of an LT5 both with its Port Throttles Opened and Closed. It illustrated to good effect why the Por Throttles were installed by GM in the 1st place.

370 sae net is a big number for 1990. My Uncles last year Testarossa (1991-1 of the 7177 made from 84-91) is 390hp, top speed 180mph, 0-60 5.2. Often compared to the ZR-1 although you could by over 3 ZR-1's for the cost of 1 Testarossa.

lets not forget the TR had no clear coat, a 5 speed, and no power steering. A friend of mine let me drive his 89 car and it was fantastic

I remember back in 97 when there was only email being asked
by JVD what my HP numbers were. He maintained that some
of the early production cars had well over 375hp.
Mine is #0064 but the first 30 or so were not production.
Turns out mine is 377.6hp stock and went up to
396hp when I put the Corsa exhaust on.
The data sheet records that the 377.6hp was done with
AC on :-x
I figure with porting I could attain 405hp easily but....
what for? I'm a happy camper as is :p

This all brings up a good point, today when you see four door sedans claiming 400plus hp, is that gross or net?
