Gearsets

Hey Everybody,

I am considering some new gears for the Z over the winter.
What does a person go with, 4:10's or maybe 3:90's, 3:70's.
Any pluses or minuses a person should watch out for when buying them?
Where does everyone buy theirs?
Anything special or different about the installation that would cause a shop specializing in differentials to screw the install up?

I plan on drag racing the car a fair amount so if that's a consideration let me know.

Thanks

Here is a link that ought to help you decide John... http://www.f-body.org/gears/
At the top where it says make a selection you can scroll down and click on ZF6 rather than enter all the numbers yourself.

On a relatively stock car the 3.45's are pretty good for the drags as you can go through the traps in third at near redline (one less shift than most cars). I have 4.09's on my 368 which allows me to be near the top of 4th at the finish, however with street tires first gear is so short that I can't hook up worth a darn.

Thanks for the info guys. Right now I am just thinking about mods. I am trying to fight them off, because I know how I am, enough is never enough. You know what I mean. The ZR-1 already runs fantastic and its not like it needs anything more. But I hate getting beat at the strip. That's where all this comes from, not driving around.

Great link Robert.

Thanks again,
