1996 LT4 Gauge Cluster in 1991 ZR-1
Can I install a OBD2 1996 cluster from a LT4 with 8k tach in my 1991 OBD1 ZR-1?
My tach is way off... I shift when the needle is near the speedometer display... and i like the temp etc gagues better in the newer cars. Found one for 250$, thanks! Jay |

The complication of changing the mileage is too much work. You can repair your own tach circuit cheaply. see the diy posts on the subject- there's a resistor that gets hot and the resistance changes.

You're much better off correcting the issue with your '91 cluster. There is a different display scheme for the LCD that creates issues. I don't recall the particular difference but it's certainly more desirable to repair what you've got. There is also I believe a possible change in the warning lights in the cluster.
I believe that people have changed the LCD from cluster to cluster to accommodate a swap but it's usually been done to add an 8K tach to what was a 6K cluster car. If you checked the owners manual of let's say a '95 and compared the display and lamp feature of the cluster to yours then it might be easier to determine if you want the aggravation. I'd fix yours. |

You can fix your own as Paul suggests Tachometer Calibration TIPS Paul describes in detail how to remove the Cluster in the link above which actually only takes a few minutes. or Marc Haibeck can fix your cluster |
