New brakes?
it seems like I am going to have to replace my Brakes in the spring.. I want to replace the Rotors as well, what are the best pads and Rotors to get that will work with the stock Calipers for both front and rear?

Re: New brakes?
I like the rotors from StopTech.
I have them on 95#140. |
Re: New brakes?
I was looking at Stop Tech for both the pads and the Rotors but was told they won't work with the stock Calipers is that true? if its not what ones would you recommend for both front and back?

Re: New brakes?
I went with Hawk HPS pads on my stock brakes recently. They gave a better initial feel for sure, they grab more with less pedal movement. I kept the stock rotors, but I'd probably go with the Baer Eradispeeds just because of the weight reduction. Just a guy with an opinion and little experience to back that opinion up... ;)

Who told you Stoptech rotors will not work with OE brake hardware? Have you contacted Stoptech for application information. If not, call it at 310.325.4799 or see its web site at http://www.stoptech.com/ |

As for Stoptech pads, I'm not using them so I can't comment other than saying that, if I decided to use an aftermarket pad, I'd sure give 'em a try. That said, my car is an aggressively-driven streeter and OE pads work fine...to the severity that I use the brakes. I should add that the Stoptec rotors cool a little better and my front brakes have air cooling ducts, so even though I'm using OE pads, my braking is enhanced somewhat by those mods. If I were running the car harder, I'd probably look at some aftermarket pad. As for Stoptechs not fitting....if Stoptec told you that, then you have the right information. If you're going on anecdotal accounts from someone who's not actually tried to install them, I'd contact Stoptec, if you want to know for sure. |

Re: New brakes?
I believe that was me telling you about the pads. At the time stoptech came out they did not carry any pads other than what fit their calipers. Which are a Brembo/Alcon type style. I've checked and they do carry the typical aftermarket pads which you can buy from most aftermarket supplers PFC, Pagid, Axxis and Hawk. I have not compared their prices. So check around and see what kind of price you can get. I do recomend the Hawk HPS pads for all around driving on the street with some autocross and track duty mixed in.
