Lumbar support air pumps
 

Both the motors on my lumbar support air pumps run but the bladders don't inflate, any ideas?:proud:

Take them out and replace the rubber in the pump end, I used rubber from a bike inner tube cut it to size works great!

take them apart and replace the diaphragms.
you can make new diaphragms out
of a rubber glove or an old inner tube.
old inner tubes come in handy for lots of things!
new one's are probably available, someone here may know where?

It's also quite likely that the bladders themselves are toast. They're plastic and degrade over the years. When I had the seat covers on my 87 replaced a couple years back, the upholsterer described the original bladders as "swiss cheese". If this is the case, it's unfortunate, because if you try to replace them, you end up ruining at least the seat foam and probably the seat covers too. The motors on my Z worked fine but the bladders wouldn't inflate, and I assumed that was likely the issue. Good luck.

When I had a seat apart last year I noticed one of the small plastic manifolds (where the hoses connect to) had a broken-off nipple. So, even if the pumps and bladders are fine, the compressed air leaks out. It looked like an easy fix. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Good luck. Maybe take pics of what you find? Thanks.

Hey Daryll! I never really left. Someday I'll buy a house with a 3-car garage and I'll need another Z for it. I love my Stingray, but I do miss the Permagrin! And, of course, the Brotherhood! :dancing

I have to agree,the bladders fall apart with age. The bladders in my car with 7000 miles were in pieces and some pieces turned to powder.
