Mountain Run 6
 

Mountain Run 6 is scheduled for May 13-16 (Sun-Wed), 2018. The home base for MR6 will be Fontana Village Resort in North Carolina (approx. 10 miles from the Dragon). There will be several tours (routes) from which to choose including one or more runs through the Tail of the Dragon, the Smoky Mountain Loop, Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, Wayah Road, Suches Loop, Fontana Dam, Gatlinburg and more. The first road tour will be on Sunday with additional tours on Monday & Tuesday. On Wednesday we will caravan from Fontana Village to Bowling Green, KY to attend the C4 Gathering at the NCM.

Participants planning on driving all three days of MR6 should plan to arrive in Fontana Village by Saturday evening. Note: the extra day was added by request from previous participants – anyone arriving on Sunday will still have two days of driving some of the most scenic and exhilarating roads of the east coast.

As always the only cost to participate in the Mountain Run is lodging, food, and fuel.

To participate in MR6 please do the following:
• Notify the organizers that you plan to participate and also provide current contact information
• Make a reservation for a room at Fontana Village (March 11 deadline)

Please post here if you plan to participate. You may also send a PM to Gunny or cvette98pacecar (Robert DeMarco). We will add you to the MR6 Participants’ List and send email updates as well as posting updates in this thread.

VERY IMPORTANT !!!! March 11 is the deadline to reserve a room at Fontana Village. Normally we would have until mid-April before releasing unused rooms in our block but Fontana is receiving numerous requests from other groups wanting to stay there during the same time. It is possible to attend MR6 without staying at Fontana but the closest hotels will require at least a 30 minute commute to Fontana at the start of each day.

Be sure to mention that your group is: Corvette Mountain Weekend 2018. Lodge rooms are $114 and there are limited numbers of cabins and cabana rooms at $133 and up. IMPORTANT: when you make your reservation make certain that you indicate Saturday or Sunday arrival and that you are departing on Wednesday.

I plan to arrive Saturday, staying at Fontana Village until checkout on Wednesday. Not sure if my copilot is going to make this one - she loves the mountains but not always thrilled to be riding with me when I'm driving the mountain roads.

I was in the mountains for 4 days last week and plan to return in a couple of weeks in order to check out some more roads that we are adding this year. FYI, when checking out the roads, directions, restaurants, fuel stops, etc. I usually leave my Rabun Co. home around 7 AM returning around 7 PM. On a good day I can cover 2 of the routes that are normally done in one day. Makes for a fun (but long) day of driving.

Hello Gunny! Glad to see this is all finalized! Nina and I are planning to attend this year again! Hell, we were planning on coming the day after last years event! Plan on calling tomorrow to book the hotel in Fontana Village. Quick question though, are we doing Hyatt place again in BG or are there plans for another property this year? Contact info from last year is the same. If you need to verify or something updated, let me know. Can’t wait to get this event rolling! We are planning on being there on Sunday afternoon, early evening so the Monday and Tuesday routes will be on our radar. Thanks again so much for your and everyone’s planning of this event!

yes - call the hotel local number (should be on their website) and tell them you're with the C4 Gathering, ZR-1 2018, or something like that. I can't remember the exact group name but it is related to the Corvette gathering.
