Wiper Blade Position

Anyone have a picture of the windshield wiper blades in the parked position?

No, but one if them doesn't park below the hood line. Why is that? All this engineering, and Chevrolet can't get both of them to park below the hood.

Year actually matters in the general appearance of the blades arm. This link has a reasonably good snapshot of through '94 then the '95+. Parking can be tweaked a bit more than displayed in the thread 'if' parts are in very good condition. The same car was used to display both and I'd guess the transmissions, links and sockets were worn and not 'tweaked' for prime park.

**parts = transmissions, links and sockets to crank arm.

This would be maybe 'ideal' for a '95

Is this for general positioning or for NCRS purposes?

If the latter, park position is critical as it determines position at full sweep in relation to the windshield molding, which is checked during ops judging.

I have found that the wiper will travel past the molding with the wipers on the high position,I keep a roll of electrical tape in the car just in case I have to cover the molding to keep it from getting damaged from the wiper.

I don't think so, they're Trico 20-2. The car is a '90.

On my 90 I had to fuss with the placement of the wiper arms to the splined (stud) a bit. And, the wipers have to be low profile. And, the "parking rest" needed a little tweaking, as I recall.

Here is a list from my parts docs that I've tried (except the 95's)

  • AC Delco fits 90-94, #8-2202
  • Trico Flex Beam (20") fits 90-94, #20-2
  • AC Delco fits 95-96, #8-2204
  • Anco "31 series" 90-94, #31-20
