Scratch in Glass

Anybody have a suggestion to remove a small scratch, more like a "scuff' actually, from a door glass?
I've seen kits advertised for this that use some kind of powder, but have not had any experience with it.
Looking for ideas or solutions.

If it "catches" when you drag a fingernail across the scratch, it is to deep to buff out.

Thanks for replying Ross.
It does not "catch" as you say.
What is recommended to buff it with?

A good used window wouldn’t be too hard to find?
Not really that hard to replace...

I don't really want to go there.
The "scuff" does not show unless the light catches it just right. Plus, all the glass is original with correct date codes. Don't want to mess that up for something that 99% won't notice.

Here in FL is a company called SuperGlass windshield repair. We use them often to buff out scratches in residential construction windows, mirrors and shower enclosures. See if there is a windshield repair company in your area and give them a call. Expect 100 - 150 dollars. Maybe less if you take the car to them.

Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check around.
As I am in the middle of nowhere so it may or may not be a possibility, but never know 'till checking.

I would suggest you replace the rubber window seals, felt strips, and inner bumpers as a future project. Over time, they can wear out and scratch the side window glass.

We use cerium oxide and a felt wheel. Keep in mind, the door glass is harder than the windshield and will take more effort to polish.

Amazon has some nice little kits in the $20-$30 range.
