My First Mod!

And what a major one it is! New custom made, leather wrapped shift knob, with matching red stitching. Substantially bigger then stock, which works well with my big hands.

Re: My First Mod!
Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference!!
Would not necessarily be considered a modification, but the one thing I notice the most out of many I have done to my '90 is disassembling, cleaning and lubricating the parking brake handle assembly. It is so nice to grip the handle and know it will engage/disengage with ease!! Evidently it doesn't take much to keep me a happy camper!! |

What did you disassemble, clean and lubricate to get it working? |
Re: My First Mod!
Your shift knob looks like it spent the past 3 months in the gym!

I had the drivers seat out to replace the bladders, repair the bladder pump and lubricate the operating mechanisms. So, removing the seat would be the first step in getting to the parking brake. With the seat out, it is not difficult to remove the brake housing cover and detach the assembly. I did not completely remove it from the car. Left the cable hooked up. Protected the carpet with a lot of towels and cleaned and lubed the assembly. I used some brake cleaner and then lubed it with a medium weight white grease. Did it about 2 years ago and has been great since! |
