1991 zr1 bigger brakes with stock sawblades

Anyone install bigger brake calipers for front brakes with stock sawblades? I am looking to upgrade my front brakes + rotors (same size rotor just slotted/drilled) and keep rear brakes stock. I am having issues researching if any kit or C5/C6 brakes would fit our stock sawblade rims. Any input is appreciated. I will be putting braided stainless brake lines and DRM BRAKE Bias spring.

I have two stock calipers mounted on each rotor Front and rear. Eight Total Calipers. Copied a kit that was available in the early 90s. Had to make a machine shop run of six mounting brackets. Still have a couple set left if interested ??

I have the Wilwood 140-8337 Brake Kits installed on a 1990 Standard Corvette with Salad Shooters replacing the 12" Rotors with 13" Wilwood Rotors as shown below......They work perfectly :thumbsup:

I also have the same kits installed on a 1990 ZR1 with 1991 Sawblades using 1/8" Spacers (I used Shims to center the Caliper on the Rotor which resulted in moving the Caliper closer to the Sawblade Wheel Spokes). The 13" Rotors were replaced with Wilwood 13" Rotors and the 6 piston Calipers. The Wilwood Brakes 140-8337 work perfectly in this applicaton also.....:thumbsup:

Also am using the Wilwood Premium Straight Angle Front Flexline 220-8338 Brake Line Kit on both the 1990 Standard Corvette and the 1990 ZR1 Corvette. :handshak:

When I was running C5 front brake calipers with A-Molds, no issues but when I changed the A-Molds to the Fikse FM5 I had clearance issues and needed spacers to clear.

I have used C5/Z06 Wilwood Brakes on ZR1s with no issues before as long as I use A-Molds. The Wilwood 140-8337 kits were not available then.

I did use 1/8" spacers on the current application of Wilwood 140-8337 using Sawblades on a 1990 ZR1 which the thread of the wheel bolts are still fully engaged with the Lug Nuts. The wheel spokes were not touching the Caliper but within 1/16" without the 1/8" spacers

For those doing this mod 6 piston with Wilwood and 17 inch Fiske FM5s they will fit. Spacers were not needed.

Did you use any shims to center the Rotor within the Calipers (The larger shims)?
Using the larger shims actually moves the caliper closer to the Wheel Spokes.

Did you use any shims to align the Brake Pads on the Wear Surface of the Rotors (The small shims)?

The need for shims varies from wheel to wheel. Wilwood provides 12 large shims (.015") and 16 small shims (.025") with each 140-8337 Brake Kit.

I am not sure since Wilwood provides plenty shims with each 140-8337 Brake Kit.

Wilwood provides 12 large diameter shims (.015") and 16 small diameter shims (.025") with each 140-8337 Brake Kit. The large diameter shims are used to move the Caliper side to side to center the Rotor between the brake pads.

The small diameter shims are used to move the Caliper and brake pads radially outward so the brake pads cover the whole surface of the Rotor.
