Dana 44
I've got a Dana 44 that needs to be rebuilt. I'm considering using this as a core to swap out with people who want a gear change.
Basically you pick out a set of gears you want. I build it out. new gears, new rebuild kit. Ship it, then receive your original back and keep going down the line. Is there any interest? |
Re: Dana 44
Jeff,
Good idea Which gear manufacturer would you be using? What is the approximate price with core? and any warranty? |

I'm still working on prices and trying to figure up costs. |

Jeff,
Are you still planing to go ahead with this? Are the vipers as quiet? |
Re: Dana 44
I'm still working on this, but the lackluster response has been.... well a deterant.
The viper gears are definately quieter than the richmond gears. |
Re: Dana 44
I have 4.09 in my 92, notice low level gear noise, some whining at steady speed, like 60. Is this normal. New owner, just bought car a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Dana 44
You will pick up some whine just from the gears themselves. And depending upon how they are set up, they can be quiet, or they can howl. Try changing your fluid and add in two bottles of slip modifier.
