What year did the FX3 Bilsteins change...
 
If I remember correctly the early ones had a larger degree of actuator rotation than the later ones. What year was the change to the later style? Was it 92, 93 or 94?

89-91 First Gen

92-95 Second Gen

96 Totally Different animal

The difference between the 1st and 2nd generation was the stop length in the top gear. The acuactors that ride on top of the shock however are all the same from 89-95 so in other words you can use any actuator from any FX-3 equipped car. The difference is on the top gear that rides on top of the shock as pictured below. So the answer to your question was 92 was the change year.

So if I'm correct on this, that means you can't use later shocks on earlier cars or visa-versa without changing the chip on the controler?
