My association is trying to ban the Z!
Well, I will let the cat out of the bag, I keep the 90 Z out in the driveway......I also cover the car with an all weather cover. Today I am working from home and the local parade of ***ociation nazis comes by, they stand around my car, and (I am right by the window) talking about how I should not be able to keep the car covered, etc.....by the way no bylaws against having a car in the driveway or a storage cover.. and my neighborhood is far from the nicest in town....alot of the townhomes are now rental properties.
Anywho...your thoughts on carcover.....is it too tacky and should I cave in and remove it or stand ground and fight it? I did confront them when they were outside and reminded them that there was no law against it, they said car appears to be in storage......however they admitted they knew it was not. I think I am going to buy an inappropriate sunshade for the front window, something along the lines of a Jeffvette Avatar:mrgreen: |
Re: My association is trying to ban the Z!
If I were you, I would strongly stick to my guns. Most associations are made up of people with nothing else to do. That has been my experience. As long as you move the Z from time to time I don't see how they could construe that it is storage:dontknow: Document with pics everytime the Z is moved. Keep a log of the mileage.
The association will probably make a new by-law regarding your car. I would then hire an attorney and see what my options are. Once again, just MHO:rolleyes: |
Re: My association is trying to ban the Z!
Looks like the Fast Boys from Illinois need a "Men in thongs" cookout in my front drive every weekend in protest....maybe that will change their opinions.
We can finalize the day with a toe touching contest on the sidewalk at noon! Bottoms up! The association knows the car is not in storage they just like to be a pain in the Arash! |
Re: My association is trying to ban the Z!
if i saw a group of people in my drive way standing around my zr-1 i'd be out there with a shot gun.

Re: My association is trying to ban the Z!
Id tell them to blow it out there a$$es.If they they think this is an eye sore,Id get the ugliest van I could find, get a bunch of Deadheads to paint the thing hippy style,as long as its legal no problem, park it in the driveway then I would ask the HOA what were they doing on my property,do they have the right to come on to your property when ever they feel the itch?I cannot stand these groups of people,I can understand the reasoning of the HOA but sometimes these types go too far,I like to stir the pot from time to time.

Re: My association is trying to ban the Z!
Don't give in!
Make sure you have an up to date copy of the rules/bylaws. Read the rules carefully and make sure you are in compliance. Write a letter to the president of the HOA formally stating that the car in the driveway is not in storage. Insist that the HOA put any action they plan to take in writing and that the signed original is sent to you by certified letter. Otherwise, ignore the jerks. It might help to go to a meeting of the HOA now and then. Insist that the HOA publish minutes of the meetings and that you get copies of the minutes to see if they are trying to move against you officially. Demand to be provided with copies of the HOA financial statements and annual audits. Most HOA's don't keep these thing up to date. I went through this with a HOA in Charleston, SC. The busy-bodies will drive you nuts if you let them. Good luck Jim Jim |
