Re: Another 1991 Fails CA emissions... Help!
What a @#$&. Unfortunately, I live outside his district so I can't do much to oust him. To me, public enemy no. 1, Sally Leiber from Mountainview has already been term limited out of office. She's...

Re: Another 1991 Fails CA emissions... Help!
I'm not sure what gear, as the test is about as hands off as it gets. I'm not allowed in the service area. That's why I gave the listed rpm (I'd guess 2nd).
It's against federal law for them...

Re: Another 1991 Fails CA emissions... Help!
I have no real reason to believe fouled cats, since that would cause the HC and CO to go up dramatically as well.

Re: Another 1991 Fails CA emissions... Help!
Unfortunately, this ridiculous state sends out undercover investigators (including little old ladies) to try to get smog techs (and fine them heavily and revoke their licenses). If you don't know...

Another 1991 Fails CA emissions... Help!
I've read all the posts about failing emissions, but haven't come across my particular problem (close, but not quite).
I've had the car since it was about 4 years old / 4,000 miles and have since...

Re: Experiencing electrical failure
Well, I got it apart, but took a slightly different route. Disconnect battery power, oil pressure sender (used a 1-1/16" open end wrench and it fit fine), the air temp sensor on the side of the air...

Re: Experiencing electrical failure
Without pulling the plenum, will it come out from the side or the front? Trying to plan the route with a minimum amount of disassembly. I noticed the plenum dips downward just ahead of the...

Re: Experiencing electrical failure
I put an oscilloscope on the alternator output while the car is running. There is a small noise component present, but it nearly didn't register. No DC and negligible AC signal.
Every place I've...

Re: Experiencing electrical failure
Just a quick follow up -- After charging the battery for a few hours now, voltage at the battery terminals is 12.27V with the engine running and 12.54V with the engine off. This seems to confirm my...

Experiencing electrical failure
Last night I was on my way home and the "Service ABS" light came on followed a minute later by another about the SRS, then the SES light a few seconds later. I raced into the nearest parking lot and...

Re: H.P. & TQ estimates for the 92
50 hp is quite a lot with such minor mods. That's impressive. I might go almost that far, but I just don't want to mess with headers.

Re: H.P. & TQ estimates for the 92
What is the rwhp for a bone stock 90-93 and for a 94+? I haven't had a chance to dyno mine.
Of course I've added a few mods along the way, but it's be nice to know where I started.

Re: Opinion on this Xpipe/Resonator hybrid
Just a quick update after living with the X-pipe for a while for what its worth. Fuel economy has gone down from about 13.5 to 12.4 (I almost never get out on the freeway). The resonance is...

Re: Opinion on this Xpipe/Resonator hybrid
Well, I tried to have the x-pipe added before the resonator, but there just isn't enough room with the Borla system -- the resonator can only be moved back about 12" before it loses clearance to the...

Re: Opinion on this Xpipe/Resonator hybrid
Blackjack: You replaced the resonator with the x-pipe or placed the x-pipe before the resonator?
I already think the system drones a bit, but there again, I don't have anything else to listen to...

Re: Opinion on this Xpipe/Resonator hybrid
Interesting... I was just going to ask this very question and here Magnaflow already did it. I already have a Borla system and it looks like there's enough room for an x-pipe after the resonator....
