^^ One last point to talk about is that I un-lowered my car by putting the spring shims back in place. It is now maybe only about 1/2" lower than stock and benefits from the full range of travel.

I had driven on the stock stance and ride height with the 'old' shocks before rebuilding and they were still bad, but it does allow for the suspension to work through it's intended range so you don't have to go full stiff setting to keep it from bottoming out.
